Nice and if it stays under 25k for base model the Volt will be pointless.

No it won't be. The Volt is a completely different type of vehicle and a step in the right direction. Just because something is a hybrid doesn't mean it is the same thing. It is like saying the Malibu hybrid (mild hybrid system) will kill the Camry hyrbid because it was cheaper.

Put the kool aid down and think on your own.

So you are going to pay a 15k premium on a economy car that will return worse economy and practicality when there is a better one available?

Like I said, the Volt is D.O.A. Nobody is going to pay 40k for a you charge it car when you could get one of these guys and hack it for charging.

Lets go back in time about 4 years when domestic fans were ranting.

The Prius is D.O. A. Nobody is going to pay 40k (which is what some of these were going for at one point in hot markets) for a midsize car just because it gets 40 miles per gallon.

How is it apples to oranges?

Both were advanced technology cars that were a new type of vehicle. The Prius became trendy and had LOTS of positive press. As a result it sold for huge premiums over the MSRP (near the $40k mark at once point).

Also it is pretty stupid to compare a vehicle you buy w/ a full warranty vs a modified one.

91Z...

The difference is that you can buy a Prius for $23k. Volt will cost $40k. Not every Prius had a markup.

Besides, you could then use the same reasoning for the Volt...if it's as good as you think it will be, then it will be marked up to $60k. Your argument is still shot.

That's cool. I may be thinking about one of these for my wife (yes she gets stuck with the practical car).
