Subaru/Toyota sports car delayed until 2012
According to Japan’s Nikkei newspaper, the upcoming Subaru/Toyota rear-wheel-drive sports car has been delayed to 2012. Nikkei did not say where it got the information but said that production was to start at the end of 2011 and that Toyota has decided to postpone it until 2012.

“We’re discussing with Fuji Heavy the timing for the start of production and other details,” Hideaki Homma, a Toyota spokesman, said when contacted by Bloomberg. He declined to give further details on the talks.

hope their not gettin too ahead of themselves here. toyota cant even finish working on an lf-a for lexus and they want to think about a sub-toyo sports car.

itd be cool to see a new supra out but is it realistic? no.

I thought Toyota is focusing on the Lexus IS as their sports car.

200hp doesn't seem like a sports car to me.

toyota ought to dust off the old plans for the AE-86, FORGET awd for now, and just pump out a simple, lightweight, stylish coupe.

they had offered a 180 hp engine in corollas and matrixes for years. but without a coupe body, most people prob'ly just weren't paying attention. slow sales led to it beibng dropped.

a flashy looking 2-dr is almost as important as hp.
(that's how the miata succeeded.)
