BMW Announces Price Increases For 2009
December 22, 2008…BMW of North America, LLC announced today an average price increase of 0.7 percent for BMW vehicles sold in the U.S. effective January 1, 2009. This action is driven by the ongoing structural and economical changes in the market place. It will ensure revenue generation for the company’s U.S. operations and help to protect the quality of business.

Pricing for the new Advanced Diesel vehicles remain unchanged. The all new 335d and X5 xDrive35d were launched recently and have begun arriving at BMW Centers this month.

In addition, BMW announced pricing for the new 2009 7 Series that debuted recently at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. The base price for the 750i is $81,125 and the 750Li is 85,025 (including $825 for destination and handling). Both models began production in November and will arrive at BMW Centers in the spring.

Not too big of an increase. The most is $400. They also bumped up the cost of certain options, but if they are included in a package, the price increase of those options will NOT be reflected in the package price.
The 7 series will not be able to be built until the end of January, they want to get rid of the current 7 series ASAP.

Come they need to be competitive in pricing I dont think there is a need to raise the price on an already expensive sedan.

They will shoot themselves in the foot trying to increase prices across the board, when in 2009, people will be value shopping more than ever for cars.

May not be a bad idea. bump up the price and offer better incentives. This may appeal to more ppl than just having the lower price. That way they think they are getting a better deal because of the abiliy to offer more incentives. Wonder if that type of marketing works...?
