2009 Porsche Cayenne Diesel: production started
The new Cayenne Diesel production was started by Porsche at its Leipzig plant. The SUV comes with a 3-liter V6 turbo diesel powerplant with 240 hp (176 kW) provided by Audi AG. The powerplant in the latest Cayenne makes a distinction through its seamless vehicle response. Add to that its maximum muscular torque of 550 Nm which provides athletic handling and superb handling, thereby offering that pure driving experience which Porsche is well-known for.

Nevertheless, the Cayenne Diesel utilizes an average of only 9.3 liters for every 100 kilometers and its CO2 emissions are 244 grams per kilometer. This latest addition to the Cayenne range now makes for a product line of seven variants. The Cayenne Diesel will be offered for sale beginning February 2009. Coming with the tested and proven Tiptronic S automatic transmission as typical, the bottom Euro price tag is estimated to be about € 47,250. The Cayenne with diesel engine in Germany, plus 19 percent VAT and country-specific equipment will cost around € 56,436.

Whatever, we all know the family ties between the two companies. I'm not surprised and if I actually liked the Cayenne it wouldn't matter to me if it was powered by an Audi diesel anyway. Cayenne's are put together in VW plants and final assembly takes place in Porsche's own. It should be common knowledge. You're hating for the wrong reasons. I don't hate it but I don't like the Cayenne( much prefer the ML or a Range Rover Sport) but hey it's personal preference.

The I5, V6 and V10 TDIs are the only VW engines going into Touaregs that weren't going into Porsches.
The V6 replaced the old inline 2.5-liter 5-cyl. that was also used in Audi sedans.
(at one time not too long ago, VW made 3 inline diesels with interchangeable parts:
4-cyl. diesels went into VW cars
5-cyl. diesels went into Audi cars
6-cyl. diesels were sold to other automakers, for example the Volvo diesels in North America have VW engines.

The V-10 won't be used, because it blows away the performance of the base Porsche V8, and you can't have a VW engine beating a Porsche engine ... not allowed.
