Audi Goes to Dark side , with UK launch of Black Edition A3
Audi has gone to the dark side in the UK with their new Audi A3 Black Edition. This Black Edition A3 applies to the Sportback and Cabriolet ranges and gets the S-line treatment giving it a more sporty looking exterior and interior.

More specifically Black Edition A3's get de-chromed front grill, 18-inch S-line wheels with dark titanium finish, and hatchbacks get privacy glass which extends throughout the B-pillar. Of course these cars are finished in the Brilliant Black finish at no extra cost. Other colors may also be ordered with these cars as well but then you couldn't exactly call it a Black Edition could you?

i love audi but some of the things they come up with just doesn't make sense to me and this is one of them. mercedes puts out a "black series" audi puts out the "black edition".

black series = more hp
black edition = an all black car (why can't audi give the people what they want?)

because Audi has S/RS versions for more horsepower, this is just a styling package, something that MB does a lot of

In support of MB's Black Series, the vehicles have far more than absurd amounts of hp (670 in the SL). Depending on model, they may include huge composite disc brakes, adjustable suspension, unique wheels, extensive use of carbon fiber, integrated roll-cage, exclusivity, and outrageous price.

The RS cars, while excellent in their own right, are not competing in the same category as the Black Series.

And they are not meant to, RS cars compete with AMG cars.

Why does Audi feels it needs to market a car squarely at black people? Am I missing something here?
