Next-generation Mercedes-Benz CLK coming with a full length opening glass sunroof
Spotted testing on public streets, this model demonstrates how the company intends to make a unique targa roofed version that is outfitted with a full length opening sunroof in glass.

This vehicle is expected to be showcased in March during the Geneva Motor Show and will be designated ‘CE’ as it merges special features from both the E-class saloon and C-class coupe. The external revisions are supported by mechanical enhancements plus Mercedes‘ technology such as ‘adaptive damping,’ adjustable steering wheel and settings for body control.

Something tells me there is going to be only one CLK/E-class coupe and people are becoming confused.

Both spy shots show the same car.

The glass roof on the coupe looks fantastic. I wish my 3-Series coupe was available with this option.

How hard is it to figure out now? Ignore the unedited headlines. The old CLK will become an E-Class coupe, period. the name changes, position it higher than the CLK, and they'll raise the price. At some point, I'm guessing they'll come out with another coupe model, smaller, either built on the C-Class platform or the A/B platform, position it lower than the E-Class, at a lower price point. This model will replace the mostly unloved C-Class coupe (hatchback).

Isn't the new CLK the E-class coupe? And isn't the SLK built on the C-class platform already? So the SLK is essentially the C-class coupe, right?

And a C-class coupe/roadster would different from the 3-door C-class hatch, huh? Confused, I am. Maybe the M-B site will be able to explain more....not!

@ dumpsty, The SLK is built on the E-Class platform. The upcoming C-Class Coupe will be a 3-door, 4-seat car that will differ from the SLK. It will be a direct rival to BMW 3 Series Coupe and the Audi A5.

I thought it would be named E-Class Coupe.

C-class/E-class whatever...

The wraparound taillights are killing this car.

What confuses me is, isnt this new "e class coupe" based on the new c class just like the old clk was. It is my understanding the new e class sedan is actually based on the last generation and the only thing similar about the clk replacement, and e class sedan is similar styling cues and the name.

There won't be anymore CLK coupe once the E-Class Coupe launches.
