As predicted by AutoSpies.com-What BMW just got discontinued?

Dear 001,

It's official, BMW has just dumped the X3 2.5, just like you said it would!

Check out their website...the 2.5 is no longer there

From our 8/2 issue...

Dear 001,

As most of you and your readers know, the BMW X3 has not been exactly a 'design triumph'.

Some people have described it as the best looking 'shoe' BMW has ever designed.

Since its launch they have been offering crazy leases and making dealers purchase them for service fleets for virtually next to nothing, just to get them to sell.

The biggest flaw in the design that can be changed will be for 2006

As you predicted almost a year ago, they are doing away with the ugly grey cladding at the bottom (see pic below) for 2006.

The exterior will have a monochromatic paint scheme like these pictures below.

Finally, BMW will announce the death of the X3 2.5 model, as most people are opting for the 3.0.

Keep the fire burning...

Lex L.

The X3 has enjoyed significant success in Europe, where size matters in the opposite direction. Actually, there is very little price difference on the retail level between the X5 and the X3, still the X3 outsells the X5 2 to 1 there. Not surprisingly, BMW builds the X3 in Austria (Europe's most expensive country after Switzerland but still close to the main markets), the X5 in South Carolina (costs are about 35% cheaper there, 65% of X5 production are sold in the US). Europe buys most of the X3 in diesel form, the 2.5 litre V6 is being replaced as we speak for the US tastes.
