Did Toyota Foolishly Brag About JD Power Buyer Retention Study Results?
According to a recent JD Power study, Toyota and Honda enjoy the highest "brand retention" of any new vehicle manufacturers. The problem - this study is bogus.

Toyota and Honda are inherently advantaged to win this study, and neither should be bragging about "winning."

Brutal article with misleading conclusions. Toyota and Honda are bad because they sell small cars which means they're more likely to have repeat customers. And that's bad? Not to mention the made up title of "Toyota foolishly brags" which appears nowhere in the article. Autospies at it's best again. Tempest in a teapot.

This study is also skewed by the cost of the vehicle from the manufacturer. Cheaper offering often mean better retention. This holds true whether you are moving up or down.

Another article by an author whose arms must be sore from grasping at straws all day.

Actually it was submitted by Toyota fan site. They just believe in calling foul when they see it.

Title should have read: "TUNDRAHQ Foolishly Jumps To Conclusions While Exposing Anti-Toyota Bias."

I thought I deleted that press release. "Toyota Takes Formula One Series Crown" in the fine print you find they took honors for starting and finishing the most races without mechanical issues.

While the linked article indeed presents meaningful remarks why some carmakers are more likely to achieve higher retention than others, the post title here on AutoSpies is just ghastly and biased. Toyota does not foolishly brag about JDPower study results. They just make solid, reliable, cheap to run and good value cars that majority of buyers needs and offer a full line-up of products for everyone to pick what they need, as the commentary concludes. Good to Toyota. No one forbids other carmakers to act like this. And, BTW, I was once very active on a popular automotive forum and most people coming and asking for advice what to buy mentioned following desired car features: "economical, reliable, cheap to buy and run (affordable replacement parts), safe, spacious". It's good to realize what majority of customers demands and offer it. This is exactly what made Toyota #1 carmaker in the World.

I actually have recommended Toyota and Lexus to buters products if it meets their needs. My dad just purchased a new new GS after talking to me. They just appeal to a different audience that is all.

Let's see, you got $50 grand to drop on a car and you want to waste it on a re-badged nissan? It's advice allright, BAD advice. There are a number of real cars you can buy with that kind of money, and still have a bunch left over for a roll in the hay with a one legged hooker. It’s not easy being me. Denny Crane!

Downtoearth. Your analysis of Toyotas is so far left it's pathetic. Cheap, reliable transportation that most people want? I beg to differ. Toyotas ain't cheap for one. They are highly dependable and most people choose to buy a Toyota because of it's reputation, great looks, image, compliant ride, consumer demand and overall excellence. That's what their reputation is built on. As for ChuckyG37, well..your advice is useless. If you take an M45 and compare it to a Lexus GS460 the M45 simply would'nt cut it. While both are expensive rides and are rarely seen on the highways, the image of the GS460 alone would shame the M45. I dont think there's any help for ChuckyG37 because he's like Ringo in the movie Tombstone. The stress is too much for him to bare. He's too high strung...............

You Lexus haters out there better watch out because once those beauty queens find out where you are and what you're saying...."You're Done"!...and they will stick forks in you. A new Lexus is like a diamond on wheels to them.
