Chevrolet Spark and Chevrolet Orlando coming to the U.S. in 2011
General Motors previously said that the Chevrolet Spark (the production version of the Chevy Beat) and the Chevrolet Orlando would not come to the U.S. However, as consumer demand shifts to more compact and fuel-efficient cars, GM has changed its mind.

The 2010 Chevrolet Spark and the 2010 Chevrolet Orlando will both come to the U.S. market in 2011. The Chevy Spark will make its world debut in full-production form at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show in March - sales will begin in Europe starting the first-quarter of 2010. Production and availability plans for the 2010 Chevrolet Orlando will be released in the coming months.

No word on what will be under the hood of both vehicles.

GM is standing on a knife's edge with these cars. This is their opportunity to walk across carefully and amaze the audience, or hop about on it trying to entertain and ultimately fall and be sliced in two. Before the cars hit the streets they need to decide who these cars are really for. Are they for people who are fickle and hopping from fad to fad, or are they for people who are serious about being practical? European manufacturers like FIAT and Citroen have been successful by doing just that. I think GM needs to ditch the bargain basement posture it has with the Aveo and do what something different. Make all the engines offered turbo units, fit 4 wheel disc brakes on all of them, and make a micro performance niche case, allowing Honda to finally play catch up. Now is the time to give to performance-minded mpg-whores the toys they crave.

I do like the aggressiveness of the look. not so bubbly ike the japanese. that is what will make this stand out about the Yaris and other vehicles in its class. The interior on the Orlando looks really nice. I hope the spark will have something similar.
Tango, you are right. they just need a small turbo on a 4 cylinder and it will easily get mileage in the upper 30's.

This doesn't amaze me at all with these ridiculous names (not to mention POOR design): Orlando, Spark and Volt. What's next??? Thunderbolt, Hurricane and Tsunami?
