White car looks quite good. I think it's the SE variant.

I do like Camry design and think every Toyota car should partially follow it. It's balanced, sleek, the front is modern and easily recognizable and, most importantly, the car does not look weird. This is somewhat similar to Audi school where they (unlike BMW) avoid controversy for any price and keep the styling fashionable and cool. What I'm also interested is how much Toyota improved the Camry since in last comparisons the car started to fall a bit behind its newest competition from Mazda (6) and Honda (new Accord). Certainly they didn't increase the car size which gives it some disadvantage to generally larger rivals.

The Toyota Camry simply is what it is... An Automotive Appliance.

I don't find it an aesthetic/engineering standout in any way, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, as there are many for whom this vehicle fits their needs/personalities quite perfectly.

Can't imagine why I would take this car over the new 2010 Ford Taurus. To each his own I guess.

Well unless Ford has figured out a way to smooth out their engine transmission combo I can give you two reasons. Fords engine has been universally praised as being loud, rough, unrefined and another words you can come up with also the transmission is slow to down shift.

better engine, 6 speeds, sharper front end. Once again, Toyota is improving on prior vehicles' shortcomings to keep at the head of the pack. Kaizen. I do wish they had upgraded the hybrid model's engine to compete with the Fusion. I guess that is for the full model changeover in 2 years. Cant solve everything at once.

I'll never understand America's love affair with this car.

It looks...the same? Not really a good thing...

The new Taurus should stomp it in sales.

I think the Fushion is more a Camry competitor. The Taurus seems more like an Avalon fighter.

The 4 cylinder model 2.5L produces the same power as the duratec Ford 2.5L V6 in the 1995 Contour, but this was 15 model years ago.

It might be marginally more fuel efficient (however I managed 36mpg out of my 2.5L Mondeo, same car, on a long journey) but not by that much. The duratec V6 was one of the sweetest sounding motors of its time, I'm sure the same wouldn't be said of this 4-cylinder.

I don't see this as progress, but I'm sure they'll sell lots of them.

I'd take a 1995 Contour V6 over this any day.

Ughhh! Why does anyone buy a Camry? Why do people insist on buying boring cars with no design. I'd take a Mazda 6 any day of the week over this.

Is it me? Or is it that the only place where people will but these boring lifeless cars is America? Why is that?

Americans like "boring". Toyota is great at designing boring cars for this market. And has dependability. Thus the success.

I am sick of people saying Toyotas are reliable or dependable. Over the past few years, their cars have been plagued by problems like engines gumming up and seizing and cars suddenly lunging for no reason while stopped at a light. I am amazed that any of these "toyota quality" people will even show their faces in here. Maybe they are just ignorant and don't know the truth about Toyota's reliability.

These were found to be attributed to lack of maintenance.

Actually, that was just Toyota's excuse, and in court, Toyota was proven wrong and held liable. You must believe everything toyota says. Lack of maintenance caused cars to rev up and drive uncontrolled into busy intersections?
