Toyota Overtakes Dodge In 2008 Pickup Truck Sales Marking 1st Time EVER An Import Brand Is In Top 3!

We knew it wasn't going to be pretty. The numbers are in for 2008 U.S. auto sales, and pickup trucks were hit particularly hard, reaching their lowest sales levels in more than a decade. The Wall Street Journal says U.S. auto sales declined 18 percent in 2008, to 13.24 million vehicles —the lowest total since 1992. Of those, 2 million were pickups, sales of which fell 26.5 percent from 2007's 2.73 million.

High fuel prices chased casual truck buyers out of big pickups in the first half of the year, and the shattered housing and credit markets stopped core-truck buyers from shopping for new trucks to replace their old ones.

I like then new Rams, but at the same time I also think the Tundra's a good truck in fact if I needed a work truck I take a Tundra over a Ram it wins in all the heavy towing and payload tests. The Tundra is also more American, in fact its the fourth most American vehicle sold in the states with a high dometic parts content. The Dodge has less then 65% of its parts made in the U.S.

"BSBB is right so STFU. I'm sure lots of asian immigrants only buy Toyotas because they want to ruin North america."

Why is there so much racism on this site towards Asians? Much more than any other group here. BTW, how many Asian people do you see driving trucks?

Dodge always made a rough around the edges truck. They need to start engineering quality and forget the 48 Willy's look. Toyota will never gain much more with that truck.

The Toyota Tundra has had ALOT of recalls in ALOT of areas! In the year 2007 Toyota had more recalls then GM, Ford and Chrysler combined! It's a fact! But,we certainly did not hear about in our anti-american news media. I guess it wasn't news worthy!!

Where are all these Tundra recalls you so highly emphasize?

What's wrong with being a Toyota-loyalist? What's wrong with being a BMW-loyalist? What's wrong with being a Ford-loyalist? Obviously I was trying to get more information on all these Tundra recalls rawbux was so sure about. According to rawbux there are A LOT of recalls in A LOT of different areas, but you've only managed to come up with a few. I already knew about the slip yoke and I know there was issues earlier with the camshaft, though a recall was never issued for the camshaft. This is the first I've heard about the Enkei rims, and I'm not trying to say that it's not true. Bottom line is that I was expecting to see the long list of recalls from rawbux but he didn't deliver. I don't have any issues with any other automaker as a matter of fact, I really like the new Fords that are coming out. I just get annoyed by these Trolls that continue to spew anything and everything, which 99.9% is complete bull.

WOW! I suppose you've had your fair bit of ownership in each of those trucks to be able to make such a bold statement. Dude, save your crap for some other loser who also sits behind a computer and virtually test drives cars online using forums. The F-150 and Silverado are both solid trucks and I can easily admit that, why? Because I've driven each of those trucks in real life enough to formulate my own opinion. I also really enjoyed driving the Dodge Hemi Express which I think is an awesome truck. The problem with a lot of these so-called car enthusiast is that a lot of them expect a near NASCAR like experience when driving cars on roads where speed limits are between 55-70 MPH. There are stop signs and traffic lights on almost every turn. The only real place to really test traction, 0-60 times, braking, etc.. is a track. I'm sorry buddy, purchasing a car so that I can race everybody is NOT one of the things I consider when I'm at the dealership.

If you word it a little less pro-Toyota I think the perspective changes and refects a truer picture.

"DODGE SALES TANK SO BAD EVEN TOYOTA SELLS MORE TRUCKS".

There is nothing great about Toyota's sales.
