Congress Considers Cash For Clunkers To Spur Automotive Sales
Congress is mulling a proposal to pay people to get rid of those old gas guzzlers sitting in their driveways.

Under legislation introduced Wednesday in the House and Senate and called the "Cash for Clunkers" program, drivers could get vouchers of up to $4,500 when they turn in their old fuel-inefficient vehicles for scrapping and buy vehicles that get good gas mileage.

The bill, said Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., "would be an important part of helping getting America's struggling automobile industry back on its feet."

What about people on fixed incomes that can't pay for a newer vehicle...not to mention the higher insurance rates they will have to pay? It's a good idea...but it won't benefit everyone!

Just out of idle curiosity...but where is this magic $4500.00 coming from? I hope its not from my tax dollars. Cause apparently I'm alreay bailing out people who were either to foolish or greedy and bought houses that were to expensive for them. I don't intend on paying people to buy new cars, who couldn't afford new cars otherwise. Especially when those of us who are fiscally responsible are already footing the bill for the above house people.

Hey congress, don't mind us in the middle class. Were just busy working to pay for everyone else to live for free.

Rant over.

Uhh...Hello. We're still in a recession and most of the ppl who have these old gas guzzlers simply can't afford to buy a new greener and most efficient vehicle. Recession is so bad, retirees are coming back to work. Hey, why don't Congress give us a new vehicle with free insurance.
