Toyota legendary 2000GT Replica Based on Nissan 240Z with GT-R Engine
At last weekend's Tokyo Salon 2009, Mr. Makoto Kobayash and his company Road Star Garage from Aichi, Japan, launched their latest Toyota 2000GT replica, this time based on the 1970's Datsun Fairlady Z S30 - known in most markets as the 240Z and later as 260Z and 280Z. Whereas the original 1965 Toyota 2000GT used a 2.0-liter, naturally aspirated, straight six producing around 150HP, Road Star Garage fitted the replica with a Nissan Skyline GT-R derived and NISMO prepped, twin-turbocharged RB26 N1 six-cylinder unit.

Well, this is nothing new here. Ford,Chevy and Mopar guys did a lot of this stuff years ago. This car should not have a Nissan or any other motor besides a Toyota original engine left intact. A Supra motor would have served a better idea than putting a Nissan motor in this Legendary automobile. Goes to show ya just how far the haters will go to bash Toyotas name which ain't gonna happen in our lifetime.

This car is now worthless to the serious car collector. I doubt if Nissan fans will really like this mess. It's horrible. It's like putting a Corolla motor in a Civic. The Civic can stand it's own ground. It does'nt need the Corollas help and vise versa.

Qualify your statement about who is selling more. If you add up all the German Companies and all the Japanese companies, who is selling more?

BTW: Goertz, who originally designed the Toyota also had basically the same design for Nissan. Nissan took that work and capitalized on it for the 240z and sold a boat load more then the equivalent car sold by BMW and Toyota.

I think this is a great idea for a car. As much as I love the Z, I truly do respect what the 2000GT did for Toyota!
