Toyota Global Sales Fall 4% In 2008
Toyota Motor Corp. said today its global sales fell 4% in 2008 and also shook up its management team as it promoted Akio Toyoda, the grandson of the company’s founder, to president.

In 2008, Toyota sold 8.9 million cars and trucks around the world, the company said in a statement today.

Excluding mini-vehicle maker Daihatsu Motor and truck unit Hino Motors, Toyota’s global sales fell 5% to 7.9 million vehicles. Daihatsu’s sales declined 4% to 866,000 vehicles and Hino’s declined 3% to 110,000 vehicles.

When the year began, Toyota was expecting that global sales would grow, and it was widely expected that the company would overtake General Motors Corp. as the world’s largest automaker.

Remember, this is star you're talking to, you'll have to excuse his delusions. Remember Star, at you not with you.

Yeah...What's Awesome is Akio Toyoda,Mr Toyodas grandson, has been promoted to president. Keep your eyes and ears open chaps for this is the thing I mentioned last year to watch out for. Akio is a bonafide enthusiast and is the driving force behind the LF-A and persuaded the top Lexus execs to build the IS-F to introduce the world to it's next level of serious high performance cars. Remember! The IS-F is just the introduction and there is no need to hit a home run...yet,but it's enevitable that the Lexus LF-A will be a serious home run and it will crush the Nissan GT-R,even though the GT-R is not in the same class as the LF-A. The LF-A is a halo car and will anounce it's the king of all Japanese supercars....ever. Toyota has the cash reserve above and beyond the reach of Nissan and Honda combined. "NOW THAT'S AWESOME"! Chucky.
