Mercedes Benz 2010 E-Class To Launch Complete With AMG Version In March

Mercedes Benz 2010 E-Class To Launch Complete With AMG Version In March
Effective immediately, the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class is also available with the AMG sports package. This new, optional package includes sporty and dynamic features, some of which are not available individually. The AMG sports package can be combined with all engine variants and all E-Class design and equipment lines.

The new AMG bodystyling makes for a more sporty appearance and greater emotional appeal. It comprises an AMG front apron with large cooling air intakes, striking AMG side skirts and an AMG rear apron. The exhaust tailpipes are further attractive features: in the four-cylinder petrol models these polished stainless steel tailpipes are of twin oval design , while four-cylinder diesel models have a single, oval tailpipe in polished stainless steel. All the six and eight-cylinder models feature twin, rectangular tailpipes of polished stainless steel integrated into the AMG rear apron.

Other eye-catching details include the completely newly designed 18-inch AMG light-alloy wheels, which are painted in sterling silver with a high-sheen finish and are shod with 245/40 R 18 wide-base tyres at the front and 265/35 R 18 tyres at the rear. Perforated brake discs and silver-painted callipers bearing the Mercedes-Benz logo at the front, plus the sporty DIRECT CONTROL suspension lowered by 15 millimetres, are also included in the AMG sports package as standard.

Sports seats and an AMG sports steering wheel with DIRECT SELECT shift paddles

The interior features of the AMG sports package impress with a combination of sportiness and style. Thanks to their optimised contours, the front sports seats provide outstanding lateral support when cornering at speed. The new material combination of DINAMICA microfibre/ARTICO man-made leather with light-coloured, twin decorative seams for the seat upholstery, door armrests and centre console lend a touch of enhanced quality to the interior. The AMG sports package also includes floor mats with AMG lettering, a sports pedal cluster in brushed stainless steel with rubber studs, a black roof lining and a shift/selector lever in nappa leather with chrome highlights. Perfect control is ensured by the AMG sports steering wheel with three spokes and a newly designed rim in nappa leather. In models equipped with an automatic transmission, the gears can be shifted manually using DIRECT SELECT shift paddles. The AMG sports package also includes the manual "M" transmission mode.

Depending on the engine variant and the design and equipment line, the AMG sports package costs between 2915 and 4046 euros (incl. 19 % VAT). It is available from the market launch of the new E-Class in March 2009. The AMG sports package is available for numerous Mercedes-Benz models and is proving increasingly popular, not least thanks to its attractive combination of features and favourable price/value ratio.

No you're wrong, it's German and automatically much more superiorer. I should know, I keep up on the latest trendy things and fashion.

It's an improvement, but it's still as ugly as a bashed crab.

the inside looks like a dodge charger to BOXY. the outside needs work still looks like a 2009 honda accord but i guess it is what it is.

The styling has sort of begun to grow on me. At first it didn't make any sense, but now I can see what the designers were after. MB has gone retro. The interior is identical to what they were doing in the 80's, with the addition of an LCD screen and other modern technology.
The front may resemble the Lexus GS, but that is just because Lexus copied the headlight design motif from Benz in the first place. This face is just an evolution of what MB started doing a long time ago.
I thought the tailights looked like something from a Hyundai, but I was looking at an old W126 560SEL and these are also an evolution of a theme that MB used before but abandoned for a while.

I can understand MB wanting to bring back some of the old styling cues to push the message of their renewed commitment to the quality and craftsmanship that their reputation was built on, but these old styling cues haven't been properly reinterpreted, but rather sloppily regurgitated.

Very well put, Pushrod27. I'm all for using the best cues of Mercedes' past, but they just don't gel here. Time will tell, but I think there are too many off notes here to make this work.

Good looking car. The interior does not look as upscale as earlier versions though.

Misleading headline.... it's the AMG Sport Package that's available in March *not* the AMG version. Call me when the E63 is available.

front looks great
Rear is a Hundai sonata (doesn't look nearly as good as last gen)
interior is disappointing, it looks like taking out of a Ford Mustang (may i say, cheap?)
and WTF with the location of analog clock? that's the most awkward place you can put a clock in.

WimmerWimmer - 1/22/2009 11:13:39 AM

The analog clocked has been placed in that same position in all Mercedes' since the 1960s. It's called "tradition".

Wimmer, if i have never driven a Merc, then i might have believed you. but since i did, i can call your comment a B.S.
show me where is the clock in current gen C (when i had as a rental car), and previous gen ML55 (which i also had for a year)? or for god sack, the S class?

it may be in that awkward position for all E class, but it is definitly not "in all Mercedes' since the 1960s".

get your fact staight.

It's been a tradition in the E-Class. Look it up if you don't believe me. It's also been a tradition with the S-Class until the W220.

rear is hideous and i like the current E class's design more. Design wise a dud.
