Mazda CEO: Ford and Mazda relationship remains unchanged
Ford still loves Mazda - or the other way around. Jim O’Sullivan, president and CEO of Mazda’s North America operations, said that the Japanese automakers relationship with Ford has remained unchanged and is as strong as ever.
Ford reduced its ownership in Mazda from 33.4 percent to 13.4 percent last year - letting go of its controlling interest in Mazda. Nonetheless, O’Sullivan said that both automakers are pursuing joint ventures that are 50/50.

Yet Mazda now has full power of what happens with their company, which I would think can only be a good thing.

I am convinced that Ford will regret its actions concerning Mazda in 24 months or less. Its best products are Mazda designs. Even though Ford in the future will be bringing more Euro stuff over here Mazda is still a very viable part the company.

Actually I think Ford's best products are the ones the US doesn't get, Ford EU and Ford AUS. None of which are Mazda based that I know of.

Hopefully now we will get to see a more powerful version of the Mazda Miata. A MazdaSpeed Miata I hope.
