2009 Callaway Corvette unveiled
The latest tuning package released by Callaway Cars for the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette fetches a sticker price of $18,900 but raises the car’s power output to an impressive 580 hp (433 kW) which in turn gets the Corvette an acceleration rate of 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds to reach a maximum speed in excess of 200 mph.

The Callaway Corvette can cross the quarter-mile in 11.2 seconds at a speed of 124 mph. The Callaway tuning package begins with the LS3 V8 by GM and adds on top of it an Eaton supercharger, a high-flow injected fuel system, an air-liquid converting intercooler and a custom air intake.

In this economy, where price is king, I just don't see anyone spending 18 grand to get LESS horsepower than you could manage by installing your own supercharger for less than half that. You want over 600 hp in your base Corvette? Buy a twin screw supercharger and blow past every Z06 and supped up Mustang for about $50,000. That's assuming you found a BARELY used 08 for around 40, which could easily be done, and spent about 10 on a supercharger, install, and tune.

But the people with money will buy a Z06 or ZR1 and modify that and reinforce the car so it can handle it and end result will be so much torque the skin on your face will start stretching.
