Bmw planning a successor to the iconic 2002 version
Spied on the streets of Munich, Germany last year, the next-generation Bmw 1-Series appeared to be standard 1-Series hatch, but on closer examination revealed a number of important indications for the next model. Clearly, the next model will be bigger compared to the current version, with a lengthier wheelbase and broader track, consistent with Bmw’s plan to make a sportier car than the present one.

No, like everything else competes with KIA. BMW is the alltimate, and nothing will ever touch it. It feels like magic, or that's what all the magazines tell me.

LexuxBeautyQueen, you're crazy! Like BMW is like the alltime ultimate best thing ever. It will remain the number one brand for coolness 4 ever...until GQ tells me otherwise.

I'm not sure whether you're kidding or being serious. If you're serious, go to Wikipedia and look up the BMW 2002. Kind of an important car.

The old 2002's were great cars, if BMW intends to pay homage I hope it's similar to the execution of the mini. Otherwise, don't bother.

I really hope BMW gets off this high horse it is trying to mount (pun intended) and get rid of the 6-cylinders in the 1-Series. A proper replacement for the 2002 should have an engine no larger than 2.0L and should be a 4-cylinder. With current technology a successor to the 2002 Turbo would have a turbo or two (BMW seems to be liking 2 turbos at a time these days) and put out around 300hp. With current technology it's possible to achieve these figures without the need for 6 cylinders, ie the 135i.
