German manufacturers to transfer their U.S. focus to the LA Auto Show instead
2009 Bmw Z4 RoadsterAn unarranged meeting was called for the executives of German car makers, just a few days before the scheduled auto show in Detroit, to decide whether they will continue to put emphasis on the North American International Auto Show. Representatives of Bmw, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen discussed whether it would be better for them to transfer their U.S. focus to the LA Auto Show instead.

If these auto giants decide to opt for the latter, the NAIAS will suffer a significant blow to its organizers. The German auto giants spend huge amounts of money on sophisticated displays while at the same time bringing numerous executives and journalists who in turn spend cash all over Detroit.

Smart move. California, specficially SoCal, is the Germans' biggest market in terms of volume. This is where their emphasis should be rather than Detriot.
