Infiniti reveals future hybrid lineup plans
Carlos Tavares, CEO for Nissan product, expressed his hopes early in 2008 about expanding the Infiniti lineup to 10 or more nameplates within two years and conjectures of a new Q flagship sedan and super-sports car patterned on the platform of the GT-R quickly came out.

Rumors has it that the future lineup for Infiniti will consist of the latest versions of the M sedan, QX SUV, and a gasoline-electric hybrid version. It was revealed by John Capps, chairman of Infiniti’s National Dealer Advisory Board, that he is expecting the latest G37 Convertible in the succeeding months and he further confirmed the arrival of a hybrid model as early as next year.

It's only a matter of time that companies see the light about hybrid technology. As for another QX SUV, why?
Infiniti should work on improving the quality of their interiors as they are basically Nissan clones.

I also doubt that many of these new vehicles will come to pass, Infiniti has failed numerous times with their attempts at a premium flagship sedan, as well as a true luxury SUV. Hybrid technology that works properly takes a lot of resources and is complicated.
Remember, Acura was making these similar anouncements about trying to become a "tier 1" brand just last year, and we know what is happening with them.

why is that embarassing? Land Cruisers cost pretty much the same as the LS. More than any car in the Infiniti line up. I've driven a Z and a G35 6mt. I can't tell a difference between the interiors.

lmfao infiniti interiors blow. everyone knows that. Lexus LS interior is made on purpose to look simple. that is the whole Lexus L-Finesse philosphy. When you sit in it it definitely is not cheap. You should get out of your nissan errr infiniti and try it sometime;-)

Given the stats that Hybrid sales have fallen more than 8% or so overall last year .. Infiniti might as well spend that money in probably getting a top-of-the-line Q series or may be start up a performance division of likes of M, AMG and F ..

The QX has been a disaster from the beginning. They would be much better off to just cancel it altogether.
Terrible fuel economy, along with shocking reliability and a cheap interior build, are just some of the negatives.

I know the truth hurts, but your arguments about fuel economy are just plain stupid.

My LX570 is a large, luxury SUV. It was not ever marketed as an economy car, but for getting more than 5 people around with their cargo, in comfort.

When you get your license, drive a hybrid for comparisons sake against a similar, non-hybrid model,
and compare the power output. The new hybrid RX gets 50 more horses vs the non-hybrid RX with almost no loss in fuel economy. That's impressive.

LS600h is a first generation hybrid. first generation everything is not that great. First cell phones were the size of bricks and cost $3000. First computers took up a whole room and were slower than my iPod. Heck, if idiots like ChuckG37 were in charge, people would have laughed off the Wright brothers and the first plane that barely managed to fly for 30 seconds.

ChuckG37: very angry, very desperate loser. That's what he sounds like. And Lexus has been delivering on their claims for 20 years now. But you know what? If you don't like Lexus noone is holding a gun to your head making you buy one. I really don't understand your anger. Its like you have a mental disability of something. Or youre 12 years old.:-)

About Hybrids vs Diesel ..

"Why? We all know that, driven carefully, a Focus or Golf diesel can deliver 60mpg. So what’s the point of the added complication of hybrid drive?

Actually, less complication. To conform to the latest emissions regulations a modern diesel has to have a particulate filter in its exhaust system. Add that to swirl actuators in the exhaust manifold that break loose and lunch the engine, a common rail diesel pump that seizes at the slightest lack of lubricity in its fuel, and a dual mass flywheel inclined to become a dual mess flywheel and modern diesels are both potentially and actually less reliable than modern petrol engined cars.

Run them in town and they often won’t run for long without clogging the particulate filter, or without the filter destroying the engine oil. And in London that’s as well as having to pay the congestion tax on top of paying £10 more for a litre for diesel than for petrol.
So that’s £8 a day, on top of £35 a year VED v/s a hybrid’s £0 a day on top of just £15 a year VED. ""

enough said.. petrol engine is more reliable and is less prone to failure than a diesel

Chump, who in their right mind really gives a flying "F" about Infiniti these days? I mean, even Hyundai has a better line up than this poor excuse of a luxury brand. The G37 has been given improved handling and some added horsepower, but is not on par with the BMW 335i. It doesn't even have the credibility a BMW demands and recieves when you see it on the street/highway. Even the fragile GT-R hardly lives up to the hype, you can't even use the launch control without having to worry about snapping the car (like a twig) in half. I believe you are a very sick individual who sits in his room and brags about his dad's G37. I'm sure he lets you drive it to the store to run his errands, and I'm quite sure he lets you wash and wax that POS. I'm sure a lot of people agree that your comments are of your stupidity.... I'll go ahead and post even though there is so much garbage above. 1st, there's nothing wrong with Infiniti interiors that came out as new designs since 05. 2nd, the QX gets an unfair bad rap for its funky exterior, but the next QX will be unibody like a GL. I agree that a diesel would be best, but a diesel hybrid would be even better. 3rd, why does Infiniti not pair their VQ25 as sold in Japan for a hybrid. Perfect.

ChickG69 - Please don't ever compare a QX56 to an LX470/570. Anytime you have to replace your front end and brake rotors at ever oil change something is terribly wrong. Who cares about the mpg at that point.

Infiniti is done. Ever since they messed up the original Q-car(Chuck was just a itch in somebody's pants at the time) by putting that horrible grille on it, they've been losing market share. Oh well.
