Report: Jaguar developing diesel-powered XK
It is reported that a Jaguar V6 diesel version of the XK sports car is being developed which the company has tested at Nürburgring. Power under the hood for the XK D is the latest 272 hp bi-turbo 3.0-liter V6 that’s coming with the opening of the XF this spring.

Although the XK D has been track-tested, it is reported that Jaguar will be closely watching the sale of the 5.0 V8-propelled XK from which to base its final decision to put the XK D into production or not. Since a decision this year is not feasible, therefore the car might be available in 2011 at least. This move was made because Jaguar was concerned that the XK D might be getting sales from the naturally ventilated 5.0-liter V8 XK from which greater profit is expected.

How would Jag be able to tell the difference between one of 2 reasons if no ones buys the V8 XK?: They are waiting for the Diesel or people just don't want an XK.

Diesel XK is a good idea, considering the economic down turn. The new 3.0 twin turbo diesel is the best diesel in the world aswell, bring it on Jag.
