Hyundai Goes Smashmouth To Steal First Half Of Super Bowl Ad Competition

Hyundai Goes Smashmouth To Steal First Half Of Super Bowl Ad Competition
Gotta love Hyundai for coming out swinging in the first half of the 2009 Super Bowl with some really good (albeit a bit of a stretch) ads showing strength with the Genesis Coupe and mockery with their car of the year ad concept.

Here is my favorite so far although I DON'T think BMW is sweating in their boardrooms over the Genesis award.

Should they?

All hats goes to Hyundai for "Automotive Super Bowl Video of The Year."

Good job Hyundai, this video was really funny!

The Genesis Coupe commercial with the Smashing Pumpkins soundtrack was pretty cool as well watching that car slide from corner to corner around the track.

Almost makes me want a Hyundai.

That was awesome!

Not offensive in anyway ...not too desperate, and simply entertaining.

Ahh no, gotta disagree here, the Audi A6 commercial wins, for the sheer moment when Jason Statham sees his next car is a Lexus and shrugs.

So slight, yet so brilliant.

Hyundai can go F themselves and their rip-off designs.

I agree with all comments above, the commercial was seriously funny. Soooo much better than the crap from Audi with various consumer stereotypes. I'd like to point out as well that another part of Hyundai commercial, the Genesis Coupe drifting: http://youtube.com/watch?v=mW3AxiTjQFw&fmt=18 was again million times better (great music, great shots, permanent action) than another crap from Audi when they tried to understeer with the A6 into a tree. Finally, I'd like to point out the Genesis Coupe itself earned great praise from Edmunds Insideline in the first drive of the car in Korea, with descriptions like: "Epic Roads, World-Class Ride" or "Adventurous styling, a stout rear-wheel-drive chassis and a willing 3.8-liter V6" ||| http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/FirstDrives/articleId=137955 ||| I like ambitious carmakers who are proud of their proper cars. Finally at the end, first crash of the Genesis Coupe already took place. The car hit a concrete barrier around the street lamp with tremendous force. While airbags didn't fire (cars weren't on sale at the time of the accident so it was probably a pre-production version with them deactivated), just look at the front crumple zone. It worked perfectly, crushing entirely yet leaving the passenger cell intact. VERY STRONG car and excellent design. ||| http://jalopnik.com/5085368/first-hyundai-genesis-coupe-crash-caught-in-korea

The Genesis Coupe ad was outstanding.

Made you think it was the next GT-R.

Obviously it isn't but the group of people I was with all thought it was the next supercar coming down the pike.

Excellent work Hyundai.

Hyundai really hit it out of the park with their 5 superbowl spots this year. They're also saving the Yo-yo ma commercial for the Academy Awards.

The Genesis Coupe is very exciting, let's just hope it lives up to the hype.

Yeah right, the CEO and designers of Audi are losing sleep overe those beached whales called Hyundais.

The Audi R8 drivers are really worried.

Hyundai is the first Asian automaker to win North American Car of the Year so congrats to them. However, if I were Lexus or BMW, which Hyundai seemed to be targeting in the Ads, I wouldn't lose any sleep over the Hyundai Genesis. Maybe not until the next generation comes out.
