BTW the article mentions INCORRECTLY that the R8 5.2 V10 is not confirmed for U.S. Delivery.

Car and Driver in December 2008 mentioned they received confirmation that the R8 5.2 V10 WILL BE COMING TO THE U.S.

It is confirmed actually. Dealers have received spec sheets already for the US. NO pricing announced however.

Check out insideline.com The homepage asks the question: Is this the world's greatest supercar?

Also, they mention in a caption on the right column: Suddenly it seems as if Ferrari might have something to prove, doesn't it?

This car will be an absolute classic!

Is it powered by the same ferocious German-Italian 5.2 V10 FSI thoroughbred which does not make Audi S6 even a millisecond faster than the 2GR-FSE 3.5 V6 Lexus GS 350?

you do know that the Gallardo LP-560 (the R8 is using virtually identical engine) is quicker than the ZR-1 (while giving up 80 horsepower)

The S6/S8 engine and the R8 V10 engines are very different.

nope, the S6 V-10 at 435hp is down about 85hp from other Audi/Lambo V-10's

Plus the S6 is not a mid-engine sports car, but a touring GT sedan. Why compare the two?

I'm not comparing the cars but the engines. Yes, the one in Lambo/R8 is retuned but it's basically the very same powerplant, the 5.2 V10. And it's by no means anything special except shout maybe if a good V6 from Lexus can keep up with it. A painful fact for fanboys.

Yay, verry impressive that a 800LBS lighter Lexus is a bit slower in a straight line than the S6.
Until you get to the cornering cabability's. The Lexus GS350 gets 0.79G through the skidpad, while the 4500LBS S6 gets 0.90G's through the skidpad.

And yes, it's the same engine that blasts the Gallardo through the 1/4 mile in 11.2 seconds.
