Lexus Announces Pricing for All-New 2010 RX 350

Lexus Announces Pricing for All-New 2010 RX 350
Lexus today announced the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the all-new 2010 RX 350 luxury utility vehicle. The original RX 300 model inaugurated the luxury crossover category in 1998, and the new RX 350 once again raises the bar for design, engineering and luxury innovation in the segment.  The 2010 RX 350, which arrives at dealerships this month, carries a base MSRP of $36,800 for the front-wheel drive (FWD) model and $38,200 for the all-wheel drive (AWD) version.

The 2010 RX 350 teams a revised 3.5-liter V6 engine with an all-new six-speed Multi-Mode Automatic Transmission. Horsepower is increased to 275 at 6,200 rpm from 270 in the previous generation, while ninety percent or more of the 256 lb.-ft. of peak torque is available from 2,300 to 6,100 rpm, an optimal range where torque is most utilized. The new six-speed automatic transmission replaces the previous five-speed, and the Multi-Mode allows the driver to shift manually when desired by first moving the gated shift lever to the “S” slot and then pushing it forward ("+") to up shift and backward ("-") to downshift.

The RX 350 introduces an all-new electronically controlled Active Torque Control AWD system, which uses an electronically controlled coupling ahead of the rear differential to vary torque distribution anywhere from 100:0 to 50:50 front to rear, depending on driving dynamics and road conditions. The new AWD system is 35 lbs. lighter than the previous system and reduces parasitic losses by 30 percent.

The Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) handling technology, which anticipates loss of vehicle control in virtually any direction, is now available on the RX 350. VDIM governs all of the vehicle’s standard dynamic handling systems – the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRAC) – employing them collectively and seamlessly to make corrections while allowing higher dynamic capability. The new RX adopts Hill-start Assist Control, which uses brake pressure to help prevent the vehicle from moving backward when starting out on an incline.

The 2010 RX 350 introduces the available new Intelligent Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS). When entering a corner, AFS estimates where the vehicle will be in three seconds, based on the vehicle speed and the angle of the tires, and adjusts the lateral aim of the headlamps. Using a camera mounted on the inner rear view mirror, a new available automatic high beam system switches between high and low beams in response to oncoming vehicles and those traveling in front, or when other ambient sources are detected, helping reduce driver inconvenience.  The optional Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control uses millimeter-wave radar to measure and maintain a pre-set following distance from a vehicle traveling ahead.
The 2010 RX 350 is equipped with a segment-leading 10 standard airbags, including side curtain airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags, rear side airbags (for the outboard seating positions) and knee airbags for the driver and the front passenger.

Lexus engineered the third-generation RX luxury utility vehicle to provide a more engaging driving experience while also making it quieter and smoother than its predecessor. A key factor in the RX models’ sharpened handling agility is the all-new uniquely designed double-wishbone rear suspension, which replaces a strut-based configuration, which also yields greater cargo area room. The new standard electric power steering system improves agility and steering feel while eliminating the parasitic losses of a hydraulic steering pump. Eliminating hydraulic oil also provides an environmental benefit and reduces maintenance.
The RX 350 features new wider standard 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, which were designed to appear as if carved from a single block, and 235/60R18 tires. Optional 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with 235/55R19 tires are available.

The RX has a new push-button start, and a standard SmartAccess keyless-entry system that uses a touch sensor-type smart switch on the front doors that results in a sleeker, high-tech appearance.
The available Hard Disc Drive (HDD) navigation system eliminates the need for DVD map discs and offers a unique voice recognition system, which can work using casual-language inputs on certain functions. A unique Remote Touch controller allows the user to operate the navigation system, climate, audio, phone controls and more. The screen menus are selected with the controller, eliminating the need to reach out or avert eyes from the road. The attribute that most distinguishes Lexus’ navigation controller from other devices in other luxury models is its “haptic”-feedback technology, which provides a tactile response to the hand.
The new Lexus RX models accommodate a variety of music sources, providing auxiliary and USB inputs, Bluetooth® Audio wireless connectivity and standard XM® satellite radio capability (requires subscription), which is also joined by XM NavTraffic and XM NavWeather.

An optional rear-seat entertainment system includes two high-definition seven-inch screens, one on each of the front seatbacks. The available wide-view side monitor and backup monitor each help provide the driver with a wider range of visibility.

The all-new RX is now available with a Heads-Up Display (HUD) that offers displays for speed, navigation, and audio. High-intensity LEDs project high-contrast white figures onto the windshield, which are easier to read – and easier on the eyes – than the typical green-colored readouts.

MSRP does not include a delivery, processing and handling fee of $825.

I'll take the Audi Q5. Leave the RX to the ladies and guys that like lil' poodles that sit on their crouches while driving.

I don't think its uglier. I saw it in real life, it looks much much better than in picture. especially the RX hybrid. I'll seriously consider buying the RX 450h as a family car

I have also driven the new RX and it kills everything in its class. The MDX is second best but is slower 0-60 by a full second as is the ML and the X5 is a half second slower. All but Lexus get the gas milage of a V8 FWD, 14-19 from a six come on BMW, MB and Acura why can't you get better mileage than that is they are so much better. A Girls Lexus is killing you 0-60??? Their interiors are cheap and plastic (not the MDX). Everyone of them but the Lexus has very poor vehicle to driver interface. This class was just left in the dust by Lexus once again. FACT!

Ive never like the RX but i will give lexus credit, they seem to have gotten what people want in this segment correct, its luxurious, well built, a good price, larger than the cars that "intend" to compete with, and good epa ratings, it honestly is a hard to beat combination, and in all honesty it really isnt anymore bland than the other cars in this segment, as their arent any car in this segment that stands out in anyway in the styling department except the blocky styling of the GLK, or the wagon like look of the ex, everything else is honestly pretty bland

The threashold one must drive a German car to gain a discernable difference in handling over a Lexus puts one in range of driving like an asshole. Individuals buy Lexus automobiles because they are comfortable, luxurious, safe, economical, and dependable. Not because they can tear up the Nurburgring. And this is why Lexus owns about 30% of the "crossover" market share with the RX.

so Lexus RX is 38K and Q5 starts at 37K and reach near 50K. GLK is way more here in Middle east(GLK350 sells for around 60K) and also umpcoming X3 will be similar. But when i said they are seen as competitors here in Middle East and X5, Q7, ML are seen as one size/category above, LX570 compete those, many disagreed.

anyway so far on paper RX looks like new leader of the class. Just change the bumper design a bit, which is easy i think and Lexus and Toyota are known for changing bumper, grille deisgns every 2 years, so that will be fixed, otherwise very nice. Much better than hideous GLK and X3 and on par with Q5 on design.

The RX is on par with the Q5 in terms of design? What are you smoking? The RX is the blandest and dullest car in its class. Even the GLK has more design personality than the RX, which many people have labeled as a "fat pig".

S4, I didn't say that I disliked the GLK, but to me it is not better looking than the New RX. The GLK looks too much like a Subaru forester with bigger wheels. The interior is really sparse looking as well for the kind of money it will cost with options.

foxone... Anything is better looking than the Q5. They've got a couple roaming around the streets of downtown Toronto, getting ready for the Canadian International Auto Show, looks like they tossed a Q7 in the dryer and itt shrunk. The taillights and headlights got a little distorted too. It just doesn't have any road presence... I barely noticed it. ...Seriously.

that's your opinion. IMO RX is on par with Q5 on deisgn. Both cars front end looks very generic. On Q5 it's straight lines, look at the headlights, a perfect box shape, grille again a different box...etc. RX front end is curvy but doesn't look very nice, headlights resembles camry, grille is a bit too big and bumper is bland. But A pillars rearwards both cars improve and the design works especially rear end of both are very nice.

anyway that's my opinion and if u don't agree i don't care. Also interior design of RX is way better. Q5, it's the same interior found in every Audi wheras RX interior is all new deisgn. New ideas and looks very good + better engines + Costs less.

It's such a competitive segment. Mum's lease is coming to an end in about two month and there's absolutely no way I'm letting her buy another Jeep Liberty. She saw a commercial for the GLK the other day and she went "Ooooo thats nice!". I'm was like "Oh no." I've got a funny feeling it's all gonna come down between this, a Q5, or an XC60. I told her she doesn't even need an SUV/CUV/Whatever you wanna call it these days and she thinks I'M nuts.

the new RX hybrid will kick some serious ass. Its both faster and more efficient than the ML Bluetec diesel and the X5 35d. Plus the technology and interior is awesome, from heads up display to the new mouse Lexus-iDrive controller which is probably the esiest to use in the world. The interior is also really comfortable. I did not like the old RX interior, I'm 6'3" and I just did not feel comfortable in it, but the new one is great. The RX450h will be my next family car.

Continues to amaze me all the fire that Lexus stirs up here. It seems like every new vehicle from Toyota/Lexus arrives with tons of controversy. Must just be this site. As a current RX owner(my wife's), I was disappointed when I saw the new RX. It really is so similar to the '04-'09 model that I looked elsewhere. But I was disappointed with BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Infiniti and Acura. So I said the hell with an SUV/crossover...I'm an old man now(over 50)...I got a 'good deal' on an '09 LS460 AWD...WOW!! What a cream puff...heaven on wheels!! Bye bye SUV's forever!

if you people haven't noticed yet for the past 10 years or so that RX is targeted towards older people and that is why it is sells. BMW,MB,Infiniti and Audi suvs attract younger buyers because there more sporty(handling, speed). Lexus,Lincolin, and Caddillac smoother suv's

the people who buy this car want something more than just what will get them attention in a high school parking lot. people buy this car based on its performance, but not the kind of performance you're thinking off. most people need a family car not a nurburgring racer. Perhaps the most ignorant statement I've read in the last 2 minutes on this site. (spies is chuck full of haters). If you want to say something like "I hate Lexus, all hail german cars, blah, blah, blah" then you would be more believable and credible. To say that the term "all new" is too generous shows your ignorance. And take comfort in knowing this... whichever brand you are a fanboy of will have it's ass handed to it in conquest sales as a result of the new RX. Not only will we recapture all RX owners with this car, we will conquest (rape and pillage) the German brands in the process. We are currently having our new car auto show this weekend, the comments and pre-orders are encouraging, and so far, all men. The new RX is as much of a chick car as the X5 and ML.

While the RX doesn't appeal to those on the internet (who probably don't even own cars) its clear that no matter what so many THINK, it sells and any automaker would love to have it. The price totally makes the smaller class of SUVs look really out of touch with reality. I'm shocked Lexus held pricing
