Who should Feel More Threatened By The Upcoming Genesis Coupe? BMW or Infiniti
Of all the Hyundai's I've ever seen I have to say I think the upcoming Genesis Coupe is their best work so far.

It's very good looking and you know it will deliver great bang for buck.

So I began to think about which competitor has the most to worry about.

Is it BMW or Infiniti?

The BMW Coupe is the best BMW in my opinion but they sure make you pay for it.

And the Infiniti G37 coupe is great bang for the buck but you KNOW Hyundai will own that crown when the Genesis hits dealerships.

Let us know what you think.

Neither. If the Genesis coupe impacts anything it will be the 370Z.

And why all the pictures of modded Genesis Coupes?

the genesis has absolutely nothing on the 370Z nor the G and the 3. this is more of a mustang competitor

Infiniti - as it obviously looks similar. Nice Audi rims though.

What the Genesis Coupe will offer is performance and quality on par with the more expensive coupes, like the G37 and the 3 series. If a person thinks paying the $12,000 - $20,000 more for the Infiniti or BMW is worth it, then go for it, if not you can get a nicely equipped Genesis Coupe that will perform and handle with the best of the pricer cars and at the same time will have far more aftermarket support than any other new car in recent memory. One of the bigger Genesis forums already has big name aftermarket companies gearing up to support the car, companies like Buschur Racing, RMR, Vivid Racing and others.

Except, Acura doesn't have a coupe right now... and the Integra was a FWD four-cylinder compact coupe. This is RWD and more mid-sized with V6s and V8s (?) available. What are you even talking about???

You hit it on the head....the Infiniti has a better looking interior(albeit subjective). Looks are definitely deceiving in this event if you spent more then 23 seconds in each car.

Fit-finish/materials etc. are no comparison.

Unfortunately I cannot compare the Hyundai at this point, but they have improved by leaps and bounds over the ol' elantra and accent... bravo.

The nissan should be worried. The Genesis looks better inside and out, and offers (according to insideline) similar driving feel, for less money.

I think G37 coupe, as both are nearly identical. Higher displacment V6s, look similar(hyundai copied), many standard features, a lot cheaper than competitors like 3 series and A5. So they are built with almost same priniciples so they'll attract similar buyers i think.
As for majority here in Middle East, genessis should be atleast 20-25K dirhams($5-7K) less than equivalent G37, then only it will work.

Hyundai reputation is still not very strong, for example i have seen like 8 genesis so far on roads and on 2 occasions the hyundai badge was missing from the bootlid(owner removed it or fell down. i don't know) also a neighbouring showroom got a genesis for more than 2 months now. It's not sold yet.

BMW 335i feel threated by the Genesis Coupe? Yeah right. The 335i coupe is the best of the best. Infiniti has nothing to worry about the Genessis is a clone of the G37.

Well, one of the first sentence said "...and you know it [Genesis Coupe]will deliver great bang for buck."

Then the passage goes to say "And the Infiniti G37 coupe is great bang for the buck..."

So by simple logic, doesnt this mean that the Genesis is in the same target market (bang for the buck).

Truthfully, neither should be worried as shoppers of G37 and 3er will not cross-shop a Hyundai.

It's been a while since I've posted, but I believe this article needs some BMW input.

After looking at the pictures, the Genesis is a good looking car. If I was an Infiniti driver I would be happy that another company is trying to create a car that looks the exact same, as I would consider it a compliment. My problem with the Genesis (sedan and coupe) is that Hyundai is trying to claim they are a premium luxury producer. The wood finishes are cheap, the car does not handle, the technology is lacking, and truth be told you can't just wake up one day and claim to be a luxury carmaker. It takes years of research and development and reputation building to get to that stage. BMW, Mercedes, and Audi put more money into producing a vehicle, than what it would cost to buy a finished Hyundai product. Hyundai has a winner, but seriously stick to your level of competition. Hyundai vs. the Big Three is like going to a gun fight with no bullets.

That's even more ridiculous because the A5 and CLK(!) are more of touring coupes than sporty coupes. The CLK is also $30K more, A5/S5 $20K-30K more.

Maybe the G, but not so much the 3 series coupe, the A5 and the upcoming E-Class coupe.

OBVIOUSLY INFINITI. BMW's don't get threatened by anything that's not an Audi, Benz, or Porsche. And all you little fan boys out there... don't even bother trying to tell me anything about Lincoln, Cadillac, Lexus and Acura. Hyundai's not a Luxury brand yet... so until they prove themselves worthy I'll be classifying them as an economic brand.

Honestly this car isnt a threat at all to the BMW 3 series coupe, way to much of a price difference between the 3 and the G37 let alone the Genesis. The Genesis is aimed directly at the G37 coupe Car magazine even said they feel just alike the sound, the drive, everything about the 2 cars seems alot alike which Im sure was intentional. The genesis coupe has the same goal as the G coupe also performance, rear wheel drive at a value price. The 3 series coupe, A5, Clk, seem to out class the G37 in every other regard luxury quality, refinement to name a few, and the S5, and 335i out performs it but than again they are both much more expensive which puts the G37 more in line with the Genesis coupe, which im sure will be a great car.

It's a pleasure to watch how some German cars fanboys pass gas on AutoSpies writing nonsense about the Genesis line, feeling the H.E.A.T from this car. One of them says "Genesis coupe does not handle", not knowing recently BMW was beaten in terms of handling by a Skoda (cheaper Volkswagen) in the Auto Zeitung comparison and is constantly beaten by modern Audis, meanwhile first tryouts of this Hyundai praised the way it drives. The other claims "wood in Genesis is cheap". Which is subjective while the fact that 38k USD Genesis V8 is much quieter when cruising than 54k USD Audi A6 4.2 and 59k USD Mercedes E550 is very OBJECTIVE. But what else could fanboys say when they're pressed against the wall by hard facts, eh? And yes, Genesis coupe targets 3er coupe, A5/S5, CLK as well in the same fashion Genesis sedans is poised at A6/5er/E, only those Hyundais are miles better value and likely much more reliable.

Nothing is truly objective. I don't care about how quiet the car is--in fact, to the contrary, I want to hear my car when it's talking. The Genesis is probably more in line with the ES350 and GS350 and that's who it's marketed towards. The A6 and E-Class are not competitors.

Having recently been in the market for a G37 myself, this is in general what I think. I find it kind of annoying as to how close the Genesis coupe and the G37 look. In a way its almost disgusting. While I am sure the Genesis is a going to be a good car though, I would never cross-shop those cars. My choices for when I started shopping were either a 335 or a G37, finally settling on the G37. As mentioned above the only people who should be worried about the compeition are mustangs, and I don't really think 370Z so much as the altima coupes. Hyundai really needs to start making their own cars rather than just copying others though.

to compare a G37/370Z to the Genesis coupe is out of bounds. hyundai is just trying to play catch up now and i still think they have a lot of it still to do. im not saying the hyundai is a bad car, but i think they should aim a bit lower.

I think it is a threat to both Companies. The Genesis coupe is in good competition with Infinitis G37. They have its similarities based on design and not to mention performance. I think that Hyundai is really stepping up to the plate considering that Acura WILL NEVER be considered a luxury brand.

Honestly neither one should worry. The genesis coupe is not in the same class as the G37 and 3 series. The Genesis Coupe goes against cars like the Mitsubishi Eclipse and For Mustang. This care is basically for people wanting the new version of the Tiburon.

Neither company has anything to worry about. Even though the only Infinity i would currently consider is the G37,the new genesis does not pose a threat to Infinity or BMW at least not yet. The Genesis is a good start in the right direction, but it will be many years before hyundai gains a name equal to the two listed. On a side note i dont know why Infiniti is always being compared to BMW.Every BMW has great styling and performance whereas the only Infiniti that stands out in its class is the G37.Its been established the G doesnt beat the 3 series, end the debate and company comparison.

That is what I was thinking. As the G37 and 3 series are in the same class, if one is cross shopped, then they will both be cross shopped as both are identical in features, speed, and options!! However, I don't see anyone cross shopping these two cars with the Genesis, so I don't think either one needs to worry about anything.

Even if BMW should be cross-shopped, it won't for price and image reasons (unless the person is just dreaming about the BMW). It won't be cross-shopped. Many people won't be aware of the Genesis coupe to cross shop it in the first place. Those looking at a Mustang, RX-8, G37, and probably the Altima & Accord coupe SHOULD give it consideration

The G37. There are some over the top Infiniti faithful, but not huge numbers so they will be cross shopped.

Most BMW crazys won't even look at an Audi so the Hyundai will be invisible to them. It could be better in every way (which it isn't) and it still wouldn't make their radar screen.
