Porsche expects 80% sales for the Cayenne Diesel
2009 Porsche Cayenne DieselAlthough we can’t say this will be a fuel efficient vehicle Porsche expects that 80% of the Cayenne buyers will choose the brand new diesel version.

According to the German manufacturer the diesel version of the Cayenne was considered in order to lower the consumption of the car (less that 10 liter/100 km – of course we have to admit that it will be hard to achieve an average of 10 liters because, let’s be honest…how many vehicles achieve the same fuel consumption found in its official specifications?!?!).

Now people will be paying Porsche-like prices for an Audi engine. Why not just buy the new VW Tourege diesel.

I don't understand why people think in such narrow minded terms. What is wrong with someone wanting an economical Porsche Cayenne diesel with an Audi engine? Like the Lancia fan said, Audi makes great diesels. I am not complaining. I wouldn't even complain if Porsche sourced a Mercedes V8 CDI diesel or a BMW diesel. It doesn't matter if this car was engineered to provide both spirited performance and good gas mileage.

I doubt you would be happy paying full BMW prices if they were using a VW diesel as there engine.
People are paying for Porsche when they spend their money, not something different.

Those people buying them because they get RWD and a better interieur. But if the crown and Mark X wore offerd in the US is would be different.

actually, fuel consumption less than 10 liters per 100 should be easily achievable with this car.

BTW< if you read the original Dutch article, it's "80% of sales in the Netherlands", or around 250 Cayenne's...........though I feel the percentage will hover around that mark for most of Europe....
