A more suitable Autospies title would be
"Hyundai just put the BMW 335i and G37 on notice".

Honestly, I'm starting to fear for Audi and BMW. In Europe where the main fight takes place in small and compact car segments, after Volkswagen recently lowered the prices it does not make that much sense to opt for Korean alternatives like Kia Cee'd. But in the States?? Sorry, Audi A5 3.2 quattro starts at 40k USD, TWICE MORE as the turbocharged Genesis which is not that much slower and is a proper RWD car. For 30k USD you get the 300HP track version (with TorSen LSD in the rear) which will blow basic Audis and BMW to pieces. And there's still 10k USD left. I'm too lazy to compare equipment but the Hyundai comes everything but bare-naked.

I wonder how German premium brands will respond. This is killer pricing from Hyundai.

I know how the Germans SHOULD respond... with more stuffs for less :D

And Lexus... make sure that your new vehicles have as much to be amazed about as the original LS. The Hyundai Genesis is simply everything for less, so why not the "much more" for less that you were once known for?

Oh who am I kidding. Hyundai is a clear winner here.
Still, the name bugs me. From the inside-out, I can't find anything that I can associate the Genesis coupe with the Genesis.

Good for them, with this price it should fair well against the Eclipse, Soltice, Mustang and cars like that.

Since nissan fans are always talking up the value angle of their precious g37 against the 335, I wonder will they eat those words now after seeing the equipment list and msrp of the Gen coupe. Im not in the market for a coupe (and if I were I certainly wouldnt even think for a millisecond about buying a g37) but those who are have NO reason to buy the nissan over the Genesis. The only thing it gives up is 18 HP, which like all nissans is just on paper anyway.

Well Hyundai has all the right stats. Driving the car, according to "inside line" in Korea spoke of good handling but a lack of suspension compliance.True-I think an A5 might be a bit over priced. It does give you AWD,a very high scale high quality interior and probably a significantly better ride.Further I really don't think it competes directly with Audi. Rather it is an amazing value agianst the Camaro, the Stang, and the Z. A full road test on performance and handling is in order before it's signed off as an amazing bang for the buck.Yet it appears to be a great effort from Hyundai.

This will be good competition aimed at their market of high school to young college age kids. Will give them an alternative to the Camaro, Mustang, Eclipse.

Saw this car in person at the DC Auto Show. It looked very nice (minus the terrible aftermarket paint job)...slightly bigger than the 370Z they had there. The really nice part is the interior where (if they used what I hope is stock) the seats were basically racing buckets with power adjust. They looked like they could have been produced by BRIDE or MOMO.

Fit and finish looked excellent overall. Can't wait to test drive one.

Add to their pricing tactic, the feature that allows someone to return a car if they become unemployed within a year. This marketing strategy could prove to be successful. Weren't they up in January sales almost 14%?

I have to 2nd This....It's a Tiburon...I'll also 2nd the need for a convertible version.
Why is it I never see a Genesis Sedan? Do they come with a "Cloaking Device"?

A much improved Hyundai Tiburon, better keep calling it Genesis coupe.
Make it convertible with power retractable hardtop and I am interested.

$22K sounds like a winner to me. Its obviously a lot of car for the money. This will definitely steal some Mustang and high end civic sales.

a 300hp Camaro will run the same money as this turbo 4, its not really such a huge value when you look at that way, I guess it depends on what your trying to compare it to but comparisons to cars like camaros and mustangs are destined it will be interesting to see how it fairs against the new Camaro

bmwdrvr you just do not get it do you. Even thought the Hyundai is down on power the car makes up for it with a good starting platform unlike Chevy where just put a big engine in an engine bay and say its good. Making a good chassis cost a lot more than using a shared engine and basic parts for the the car to do left right forwards and backwards.
