Chicago Motor Show: 2010 Toyota Tundra
The 2010 Tundra is the latest in Toyota’s lineup of big trucks and it is equipped with the powerful and brand new 4.6-liter V8. Although this powerplant won’t be able to match the 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel or 5.7-liter Hemi found under the hood of Heavy Duty trucks such as those of Chrysler, it can still generate a tremendous 310hp (231kW) and 327lb-ft of torque.

The good news is that the Tundra comes with a fuel economy rating of 15mpg in city limits and 20mpg highway due to the latest mid-range displacement of 4.6-liter V8. For those who require more power there is also a 5.7-liter V8 available in the Tundra range. Both the 4.6 and 5.7 engines are coupled with a standard 6-speed auto transmission. All Tundra models for 2010 get a modified grill and tail light design and the rest remain almost the same as in the pervious model. Available also on the latest are the Platinum Pack and the Tundra Work Truck Pacakge.

WHERES THE OUTRAGE?!?!?!?!?! WHere's all the liberal, left wing hacks who attacked the Big3 for making trucks!?!?!? Where's Michael Moore and the Sierra club calling for the demise of Toyota?!?! Where's the eco-whackos crying and whining that this truck isnt a cleandiesel+ethanol+hydrogen+hybrid vehicle?!?!

Good for Toyota, as much as I don't like em, they build a truck and make a solid effort at it, right in the face of all the anti-auto nut jobs.

any outrage is more likely to come from diehard detroit fans. or people with twisted minds like yours.

liberals and greenies will always APPLAUD more efficient engines. and what is this new 4.6 if not efficient? more power AND mpg than the engine it replaces.

Capable Truck... Yes, but still a package that looks more like a characature of a full-sized truck than the real thing. The designers simpy tried way too hard, and as a result, missed the mark, and missed it wide!

The new dodge ram is far from dorky. The Tundra looks like an overinflated mini truck. As far as Toyotas engines they need to fix the broken camshaft problems they are noted for. The new 5.7 Hemi was voted one of the 10 best engines in the world.

hemi half-wit-- you been under a rock for a few years? tundra owners with the bad camshafts (all 27 examples) got brand new engines. the supplier got his hand slapped, and there have been NO subsequent bad engines in tundras.

and despite the (obviously inflated) HP ratings of the dodge 'hemi' which is not even a true hemi engine, the 5.7 tundra will outdrag and out pull the 5.7 'hemi' ram, despite a weight disadvantage.

must be undersize ponies in that old school PUSHROD ram motor.

XYZZ You make me laugh. 27 Examples Thats BS My point was Toyota is no better than any of them. Im ok with toyotas. I know they have spent mush time on quality and it shows but they have there issues to. The chamshaft and other issues show up on the tsb list take some time and check it out. Also the word hemi is short for hemispherical which defined meand half circle. Half circle combustion chaimber ... THATS IT. Take some time and look at a 5.7 or 6.1 cylinder head ITS A HEMI. I cant believe i took the time to explain something so simple to someone who dosent deserve it.

yeah, but how many bicycles can you squeeze into your caddy without pulling wheels off? meanwhile the tundra will haul not only bikes, but MOTORCYCLES in the bed.

MAYBE your caddy can carry a few TRICYCLES without having to take 'em apart first. LOL!

DaHarder...The photo of the Tundra looks very impressive, much better than the one of the jug head sitting in the car with a characature appearance. And 1UAW...Your 2006 Cadillac STS is a joke compared to any Tundra with the V8 engine. Even the northstar engines are no match for those Toyota V8s. Toyotas 310hp/327TQ is more efficient than Caddys 330hp/340TQ, not to mention it's not a better made product to begin with. "Was not this the GM that was on, and maybe still is, the edge of bankruptcy"?.......Correct me if I'm wrong....Please!!

whatever problems show up in toyota products (always due to SUPPLIERS screwing up) tend to get fixed promptly.

NOT like gm junk which have persistent PROBLEMS (failing head or manifold gaskets) for YEARS AFTER first noticed.

toyotas DON'T NEED no stinkin' overlong warranties, 'cuz unlike with gm/chrysler and even hyundai, most toyota owners rarely even make use of the standard warranties, and don't give a hoot about warranty lengths. long warranties being the CRUTCH of poor products which can't win consumer confidence any other way.
