Porsche Panamera pricing details released, starts at $89,800
Yesterday, Porsche released interior images of the 2010 Panamera. In its U.S. spec press release, Porsche also revealed U.S. pricing details of the new Panamera which will go on sale with three model variants on Oct. 17, 2009.

Pricing will start at $89,800 for the Panamera S which carries a 4.8L V8 that produces 400-hp. 0 to 60 mph on the Panamera S comes in 5.2 seconds with a top speed of 175 mph. Moving up a notch, buyers can go for the all-wheel-drive Panamera 4S which starts at $93,800 and carries the same 4.8L V8. 0 to 60 for the all-wheel-drive Panamera 4S comes in 4.8 seconds.

If this is in the pricing range, wouldn't this be an S-Class, 7-Series, A8, and LS460 competitor?

Ok, this is not what I was expecting. Porsche just changed everything about this car, and possibly even the entire segment. Before the prices were revealed (which most of us did not see it south of 100K to start), I never expected it to be a success because of how ugly it is (with the exception of the front). But now, if the numbers are right, power and price, I cannot possibly think of any sedan to be such a performer, be as luxurious, and be that inexpensive.

If this is true I have to say Congratulations Porsche.

really? You can't think of another luxury sedan for $90k that performs like that? I can think of a bunch. The S6, E550, 550i, and Jaguar XF Supercharged all perform the same for less, and the M5, E63 AMG, CLS63 AMG, and upcoming XF-R all perform better for the same money. I'm sure I'm leaving some out too, that was just off the top of my head. Plus that's $90k BASE -- as anyone who has ever considered ordering a Porsche knows, "base" means nothing. You can hit just about any Porsche with about $40k in options. If they could figure out how to make windows optional, Porsche would do it.

agreed how many car companies charge for power seats, and full leather seats on a car that costs well over 70,000 i mean seriously. IM sure in order to even get it to have what the cars you mention have on it, you would probably have to spend another 8-10,000 easily. With power seats, wood trim, leather interior dash etc., nav, hid lights, the list goes on, that cars that perform just as well already have on them

JRob, you hit the nail on the head. Not only is it overpriced but I'm sure it'll have the same amount of equipment as the Cayenne and 911 standard. As in--nothing.

Hope I'm wrong. If it were $10K less I would seriously consider it, but I think Porsche is indulging more than they normally would at this point. For $95K+ (that's base 4S with taxes), you could get an Audi S8 with the B&O stereo or a nicely loaded BMW M5 instead...

I mentioned in another post about the Panamera that on the Porscheusa website, I built a $99,000 Cayman, yep $40K worth of options JRob

Remember-Porsche as well as other Euro companies price vehicles in Europe usually a lot higher then they do in the USA. When news of the prices originally came out with a starting price of $120,000 for the V6 model that did not sound right to me at all.Now that the USA prices are out I figure the V6 version will probably start around 65 grand. So in essence Panamera prices are starting just north of 911 prices. That makes a lot of sense and puts Porsche right square in the market of BMW and Mercedes.Further when you look at the Panamera the only controversial element is the fact that it is a hatchback. The rest of the car looks fine to me. In fact it is a lot more attractive then a Cayenne. It's certainly nothing that you could call beautiful. But then I don't know of any Porsche other then the Porsche 904 that you could say was a beautiful car.I think at these prices this car will sell very well.

Correction just north of 911 prices for the V8 models.

On the Turbo, it will probably be one of the fastest sedan in the world with 0-60 in 4 secs flat and it will cost less than the S65!

It's not nearly as good-looking or luxurious as the S65. Panamera could very well be the fastest (although C63 is quicker than 4 sec flat, so the Porsche wouldn't be quickest), but it doesn't offer the "ultimate" package.

Fairly reasonable prices, but each one will come with 30,000 dollars of options to actually make it a luxury car.

Forget the looks, most people have warmed up to the Cayenne and no other 4-door is going to come close to matching this level of performance for the time being. With the CTS-V,C63 etc. struggling to crack the 4 second barrier to 60, this car def. is getting to 60 somewhere around the mid 3 range as the german manufacturers always quote conservative 0-60 times, I would say 0-60 in 3.5 - 3.8. This is Corvette,GTR,Ferrari territory. Any one waiting for the S version with 550-600 Bhp, that will do damage to a lot of "2 Door Supercars".
This is Porsche, it is a legend - They have GERMAN brains working for them, like the David vs Goliath story taking over VW and all that stuff. I am sure David def. was Germanic!

I would be very surprised if the Panamera Turbo matched the 997 Turbo for acceleration.

it's true that quoted European times are slower than US magazine times that people here are used to. The biggest difference is rollout (3/10 of a second) Another comes with the difference between 0-60 mph and 0-100 km/h (couple of tenths for slower cars)

But I don't see it playing a role here. Porsche already subtracted 2 tenths from the European time to US (4.2 in Europe to 4.0 in US)

The turbo Cayenne is no quicker than the ML63, so the only advantage the Panamera has over E63 is AWD, and their times look about right.

But yes, the published figures put it slightly ahead of E63/M5 and others.

BTW my cousin working in Porsche tells me that the S Version later on ( Next Year ) will not get the Carrera GT V-10 like many sources speculate. It is going to be a reworked version of the Turbo V-8 with somewhere b.w. 550-600 bhp ( I suspect around 580Bhp ) but it has not been decided yet.

I am sure that this car is just like the cayanne, in that it is a bread winner for the company to proceed with other projects.

the 124,000 Cayenne Turbo S does not have the following things standard

Rearview Camera
4 zone climate control
XM radio/6 disc CD/iPod interface

Panorama moonroof and full leather dash are also options.

Porsche is a master at options.

I love the Panamera, everything from the front till I reach the c-pillar. Then a huge dissappointment! I truly wish they stopped right behind the headrests of rear passengers aprobtly vertically down then smoothly curved the trunk towards the rear bumper.

Wish Porsche can listen to my plea. Please let me know when they do so I can book mine and my wife's Panameras. If not possible, I'ii settle for a "S-4 911 Targa" the perpetual design & performance Goddess of all sports cars.
