Hyundai Genesis on a roll: Wins Canadian Car of the YEAR Award
Another trophy has been thrown at the Hyundai Genesis by the Automobile Journalists' Association of Canada: 2009 Canadian Car of the Year. To get to the top spot, the Genesis beat an odd assortment of cars, including the Audi A4 and TTS, the Lexus IS F, Mazda6, and Mercedes CL550 and SL63 AMG. Among the other vehicles joining the Genesis on the podium: the Ford Flex took the Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year, and the Honda Fit snagged Best New Design. Kudos, Hyundai. Again...

Despite its shortcomings (and it does have some) and criticisms of some folks on this site (and others), this really is the right car at the right time.

Win one little award... and suddenly everyone gets your name right.

It's Hyundai. Like Sunday.

Im not sure you sat in a Genesis. The one I sat in @ the Chicago Auto Show had a WAY better feel than my brothers Avalon. Maybe you were in the Azera.

It's an impressive car for sure. Hyundai really took it to a new level. And now it's the Genesis Coupe's turn to be scrutinized by the media.

It's ironic how Hyundai of America insists that the name Hyundai be pronounced unlike it is in Korea. Having actually asked a Korean to write the word in Hangul (Korean characters) and actually say the name for me, I can assure everybody here that it's not like "Sunday" but is actually "HYOON-DIE", rhyming with "soon die". PORSH/PORSH-EH, JAGWAR/JAG-YOU-AR, MOTO-GOOZI/MOTO-GOOTSI, many great marks actually do have arguments about the pronunciation of their names. Hyundai is in good company. It doesn't really matter though, I just brought it up as a moot point.

Well my friend, I can assure you that you are wrong, every living creature in Korea calls Hyundai, as the advertising suggests like Sunday. If you pronounce Hyundai as Hyoon die in Korea, you will be laughed at.

Awesome observation. I had a Korean girlfriend and she would say Hee Yoon Deh. Now we can respect the company for its accomplishments, the least we could do is pronoun the name right.

RWD + Canada = Not a good look [under steer + the world's largest, most dangerous highway + black ice on the 401 express + tons of semis = ...] Absolute ripoff in CAD - close to 50K fully loaded, plus 13% government & provincial sales tax. I rather spend $5000 CAD more and get myself something decent like a C350 4MATIC, or a BMW 335xi.
