Ford continues to up the ante: Hennessey to Prepare 2010 Ford Taurus SHO Tuning Package
When Hennessey Performance Engineering sets out on a project one thing for certain is that there will be plenty of horses to write home about. Their next big job will be the new 2010 Ford Taurus SHO which has recently just revived the Super High Output (SHO) badge. Ford unveiled the Taurus SHO at the 2009 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. John Hennessey himself owns one of the original Taurus SHOs so passion for the SHO name is certainly not lacking at least on the company founder's part.

Performance is performance no matter how you get it. The if end receiver is fine with the outcome, then so what. The focus is on performance. Let the courts handle the personal drama.

Roush will do some work on this I think this thing has got some potential I wanted one when they first came out. A Passat CC more my style but who knows.

Tuning a Taurus is like training a sloth to race against greyhounds.

You must have had some pretty extensive wheel time behind this 2010 Taurus to know what you are talking about! Your the first person I know, journalist or otherwise, who knows so much about the car that he can credibly state how difficult it is to tune!!!...or maybe your just American bashing like everyone else on this site!

Chill out! don't take things so personally.

He wasn't suggesting it is difficult to tune, just that it is a strange vehicle to tune... I mean the regular taurus is nothing to write home about performance-wise, and as such it doesn't really attract the attention of performance enthusiasts. Its kind of like tuning a minivan.

Then what of the Taurus SHO? What is your point if it has been successful before?

If a tuner like Roush or Hennessey has already committed to tuning this vehicle, then obviously they, being the professionals they are and this is their domain, are placing their name on a sedan that has a performance history. Do you see any other sedans outside of Chrysler's SRT program and Mazda Speed series tuning vehicles? I think Ford is on to a trend that will catch on, but someone should be the first in a long while to have performance and good fuel economy.

Yeah I know that Taurus SHOs have a history, but he wasn't talking about the SHOs. The difference between the other factory tuned sedans and the SHO is that the others are rather sporty to begin with, while the (non SHO) taurus really is not all that sporty.

I'm not saying that the Taurus SHO is unworthy of tuning, just that it has unusual origins.

i'm more excited about the electric cars ford wants to bring to market starting 2011. that's the real game changer not another horsepower war relic. horsepower wars are over.

Maybe this will be different in the next few years, but currently the horsepower wars are not over. Pretty much every new model that comes out is more powerful (power to weight ratio) than the last, even the hybrid models. The difference lately though is that they are both more powerful AND more fuel efficient at the same time. I suspect that this will be the continuing trend.
