Review: 2006 Lexus GS

If you're looking for a high-quality car with one of the most refined V8s you'll ever drive, this may be the set of wheels for you.

For 2006, Lexus gave the GS a styling makeover. It's a hunkered-down look that has a mild fling with the current trend of trying to make a sedan look like a coupe. From there, we leave the styling question to the beholder.

Our test GS had a 4.3-liter, 300-horsepower eight under the hood. It's so refined that in normal city driving, it will be your virtually silent partner. Even when pushed on back roads, the GS engine responded quickly and with such ease and grace -- just like a good butler -- that we always felt that it would never get even the smallest hair out of place.

The new Lexus GS300/430 is definitely one of most beautiful car out there. It would thought if they actually make a Coupe version. I like everything about the new GS but one thing it would nice if they bring the horse power up to 350-365 Hp range, LOL:)

I was a huge BMW fan and never imagined when I could afford one that I would consider anything else. I test drove the BMW 545i, Lexus GS430 and Infiniti M45 Sport. The Infiniti won hands down. It was by far the most comfortable and had the best balance of Luxury and performance. The BMW drives great but it is painful to look at! Inside and out the styling of BMW has lost me!! The Lexus was a very nice car but felt like there was a layer of Novocain between myself and the car plus the brakes were impossible to modulate at low speeds. The M45 sold me right away. I waited nearly 4 months to get mine and know I made the right decision. I get many people asking me on the street how I like it and I always say that I love it and driving it is addicting! Say what you will about its Nissan heritage but I know that unlike some of its competition it won’t see the service bay for anything other than maintenance. Way to go Infiniti!!! I can’t wait for a line of cars from Infiniti like AMG to Mercedes!! I will put my deposit now like the SRT8, BMW M series and Audi S. That would only make a great car awesome!!!

For those who prefer a M45 over a GS....go ahead and buy one...you will pay out the wazzoo, get treated like crap, and will get RAPED on its resale value....seriously Nissan products dont hold there value at all (I had an 02 Maxima which I traded for a 03 G35 which I traded for a F150 - got raped each time)....and they are built crappy....three months into my g35 the speakers were rattling, the dual a/c crapped out on one side and the car vibrated during heavy braking...my f510 is built far better!
