BREAKING: GM Kills High Performance Development Teams

General Motors, focusing on mainstream products in a battle to survive, has scrapped a unit that produced high-performance vehicles.

GM on Wednesday disbanded High Performance Vehicle Operations, which is based at the company's suburban Detroit technical center, and redeployed its engineers, spokesman Vince Muniga said.

"All high-performance projects are on indefinite hold," Muniga said. "The engineers are moving into different areas of the organization, and they will work on Cadillacs, Buicks, Chevrolets and Pontiacs."

I guess if they need to get back on track then do what you gotta do...I'm sure at some point in another few years they will be back into the high performance mix!

Does this means the current CTS-V will also be the last (at least for a little while)?

Hello Camaro are you out there. Are the ever going to produce the dam thing. Gm is just not looking very good these days.GO FORD! Taurus SHO, Mustang, Hybrid Fusion to kick Camrys ass, and the new ecotech motors. All without the need of the bailout.

The ecofag motors is to appeal to the tree huggers while getting more power and less emissions. Europe and Asia have been doing this for years without the need to exaggerate this old technology.

fatandsassy,

I saw Camaros on delivery trucks this past weekend. Don't get you facts mixed up, Ford is in just as bad a shape as GM, they just got money from creditors before the markets collapsed.

veyron your an idiot. How many Japanese manufacturers are using turbo, DI engines? How many are reducing displacement and engine size (raising fuel economy) yet still keeping performance up?

The only thing on this whole page that is old tech is your useless ass drivel.

Sooo, does anyone know what impact that might have on HSV?

HSV is a division of Holden separate completely from GMPD. It will remain with little to no change.

Apparently you know little about GMPP and the tuners, or CTS-V, STS-V, Sky Redline, etc.
