Hyundai Strikes Hard Again At Academy Awards-But Is Anyone Listening?

Hyundai Strikes Hard Again At Academy Awards-But Is Anyone Listening?
First, they steal the ad show at this year's SuperBowl and tonight Hyundai struck hard again, as the lead sponsor of the Academy Awards.

They took us back into the luxury car executive offices and let us watch the usual suspects grimace at the fact the Genesis won the North American Car of the year award.

In my eyes, they picked a great marketing/ad campaign and two brilliant venues to showcase it on.

All the world was watching.

But the multi-million dollar question I would like to pose is...

In this economy, where NO one is buying anything, will any of this marketing brilliance be remembered or rewarded with sales?

My guess is no, but YOU are the experts, so let us know if this HUGE cash stimulus they've placed at the Super Bowl and Academy Awards has a big payoff for them or did they spit into he wind?

Actually my mom just bought a Veracruz. And the car guy on our street says he's getting the Genesis Coupe. I think it'll be worth it for them.

During the Superbowl some people remembered the Genesis form the year before and were impressed it actually was good enough to win Car of the Year. And during the Oscars, the commercials would say, "it's still a Hyundai" and someone else would reply, "yeah they're very good cars now".

So it's getting to a very wide audience and people are talking so I think it'll be worth it for them.

Well, I guess there are still demands for cars for some people even in this economy. Hyundai sales were up 14% last month than that of the previous year, while most of other car brands were struggling... badly.
By the way, Hyundai also put many commercials during the NBA Allstar game. It just shows how much spending power they have for expensive ad spaces so that consumers can pronounce the brand's name correctly while others are crying for bailouts.
This recession is a big opportunity for Hyundai to be recognized as a much improved brand.

I actually like the fact that they advertise. I wish Ford would have advertised more than just the F150 and Mustang when they had money. Just five years ago thats all Ford would advertise. I have seen atleast four of Hyundai cars and crossovers advertised over the past few months. Keeping folks aware after the initial advertisement is key.
