Good Or Bad? Almost All Of Obama's Automotive Task Force Members Drive Imports

Good Or Bad? Almost All Of Obama's Automotive Task Force Members Drive Imports
The vehicles owned by the Obama administration's auto team could reflect one reason why Detroit's Big Three automakers are in trouble: The list includes few new American cars.

Among the eight members named Friday to the Presidential Task Force on the Auto Industry and the 10 senior policy aides who will assist them in their work, two own American models. Add the Treasury Department's special adviser to the task force and the total jumps to three.

The Detroit News reviewed public records to discover what many of the task force and staff members drove, but information was not available on all of the officials, and records for some states were not complete.

YIKES! The answer is: "Good for imports, bad for domestics..." Nothing like a liberal, union-loving demy-crat that drives an import!! LOL.

They dont represent any company why it should be no big deal. Although I dont like liars either. The person who bought the RX350 but states they are not interested in cars is lying. She may not be interested in cars but she is interested in status. She could have gotten a Cobalt if it was just point A to B. IMO you dont spend nearly 50 grand on a car if you dont care about cars. It doesn't make since. The fact that she bought the RX means she just doesn't care about driving.

A person can drive a 50k or a 100k or more car and not be a car peson or even care. If a person is well off then 50k may be pretty low end. I sell cars at an upscale dealer and there are plenty of people who drive cars some of us woudl kill for and they could care less to them it is point a to point b.

and yes I have spelling and grammatical errors.. and no I dont care its because I'm lazy not because I cant. :)

NItePhire,

You are absolutely correct. This whole auto-mess has shown America the ridiculous ignorance of the people we call congress. Senators/Congressmen sat there and lambasted the automakers with B.S. from 20 years ago, having not actually seen a domestic since 1983.

The lady who said she doesn't really care about cars (after admitting to having the Lexus SUV) is just saying that as a defence mechanism, now that people are starting to demand everyone walks-the-walk, instead of just talking-the-talk. It's just like the people who drive foregin cars but immediately say "but it's American b/c it's built in USA". If that's the case, then BMW/Mercedes wouldn't build their cars here.... people don't buy BMW/Mercedes because they're "american".

Glad to see the panel consists of bean counters, politicians, eco-nuts, and no one who actually understands the real complexity of the auto industry. It will be good to see how they figure out how to make GM/Chrysler profitable in the face of ridiculous fuel economy regulations(cough**cough**cough.... i mean CO2 "pollution"). Ha, we'll see how that goes!

we live in a free country and you can drive whatever. blame the right wing losers who killed fuel efficiency and promoted large SUVs. they killed detroit.Everyone from Bush to Bob Lutz is responsible for the demise of the CAR in USA and the hummer craze

No, what killed (and still killing) Detroit was overly zealous regulations (face it, if the ecos would chill out & be reasonable there would be little need for lobbyist), de-regulation of energy (oil speculation), no energy policy (gas tax), and a completely wide open market, unlike any other auto-producing nation on earth.

So it's the right wingers who destroyed fuel economy?!?!?!?! Maybe you forgot, your messiah Barak Obama had a Chrysler 300C with a Hemi (before it was politically incorrect of course).

Not only that, you posted on an earlier post(http://www.autospies.com/news/2010-Chrysler-300-and-Jeep-Grand-Cherokee-unveiled-in-viability-plan-41145/)
That your dad went out and bought and SUV. This from the guy who sits here and points his environmental finger at everyone.

I bet you're just like the rest of the California environmentalists, put a solar panel on the house, get out there & lobby/protest, causing pains/panic amongst automakers but don't mind having a 2000sq meter house with a ferarri and an Lexus LS460 (since the europeans and Japanese are so much more advanced than their domestic counterparts and so much more efficient). Then, while sitting in your vast swimming pool you get angry when you see a commercial for the Escalade on your 72inch TV.

All of congress & their staff should have Big3 vehicles at their disposal (meaning the have to drive them). Then theyd see how ignorant most of their comments were this past November.

I sincerley hope they where choosen by their competence and knowledge in how to help / support / restructure / reinfoce struggeling companys and NOT by what car they drive. Adding to that i do believe that they made their car choices before they where appointed.

Obviously the pubilc view would be better if they where driving BIG 3 cars, but that is just the media game, it won´t helb the BIG 3 if they sold 10 cars more. It will help them if these guys (and ladys) are good in what they have been appointed for.

I wish them good luck and to have the right touch for this task.

What nimrods would not have investigated further into the people heading this Auto Czar Task Force, and realize these people do not even support their own countries automotive industry. This just shows you the mentality of the Obama administration. He has only been in office for a little over 100 days, but you can see where this country heading. I am not saying that Busch was better, but this teem we have now well, I can’t wait for 2012.
