Alan Mulally and Bill Ford take pay cuts of 30 percent
FoMoCo CEO Alan Mulally and Executive Chairman Bill Ford Jr. have voluntarily taken a 30 percent pay cut to show UAW workers that they aren’t the only ones being asked to make sacrifices.

In a company e-mail sent out Tuesday, Ford said that it will be eliminating bonuses for all salaried workers for the second year in a row and will be suspending cash compensation for its board members. The move is being made to meet the company’s goal of...

Yea and how long has it been that the CEO of the two companies have been laying off workers by the 1,000s? Is it about 5 years now? Also 30% of what? 500k + bonuses?

At least it shows they are willing to take one for the team, which is more than I can say for some of the others.

Actually Bill Ford went for about 5 years with a $1 salary. So I would say Ford is putting their money where their mouth is.

Yeah, you're right. They should just keep all of it for making those tough management decisions all those years.

If anyone in the US auto industry has earned their keep, it's these two for keeping Ford out of the utter despair that GM and Chysler are in.

Awesome! So now they only have $20 million/year salaries or whatever. They were over-paying themselves for so many years instead of putting extra money into R&D to keep up with foreign makers and now we're applauding them? Give me a break, they still make too much money even with a cut.

Some of you guys crack me up! I guess CEO's should be paid the same as line workers huh? That would really give them incentive to work hard and bear so much responsibility, wouldn't it?

Your comments tell me you've never been an employer, only an employee. You've never owned a business and you never will. Quite frankly, you'll never understand.

Well if you're referring to Alan Mulally, he should be paid a lot! He is a talented man who has made Boeing a very successful company against Airbus. If you want talent like that to go somewhere else, say a Japanese or German company, by all means call him names and dont pay him anything. There are very few people out there who can actually do the job that Alan Mulally has. As much as some people on this site would like to believe, "Joe the Plumber" is not capable of running companies like these. Joe simply lacks the education, experience and foresight.

Now, I'll come with you that some CEO's have royally screwed the pooch but these people really have no future in the corporate world and should the majority of shareholders require they step down, great. But I find it ridiculous that Joe gets to complain about the CEO's job when he's never had to steer the ship.

A CEO whose company is making a PROFIT should have a nice salary. Why should these guys be making Millions over Millions while the company wastes away? Obviously your "business" must be of similar nature.

Anyone bashing Mullaly (the CEO of Ford) for past performance and salary is just ignorant. He has only worked for Ford for about 2 years (not even enough time to get the vehicles developed while he was hired to the showrooms).

No matter what, taking 30% less is a nice gesture.

Badgewhore, all of your posts here are ingorant. The Government did not give them $9B, it is a line of credit (post 1), which exactly why Mullaly is a genius for securing credit when he came in (much more than any other person at Ford could have conceived or put their neck on the line for, Post 2) let alone "anyone of us here" could have made such a bold, new, top-level strategy (Post 3).

Seriously, show of hands, who here thought two years ago, "Gee, Ford should secure financing that will allow them to continue viability for the next two decades." Be honest, I bet it didn't cross any minds...no hindsight, now!!!

Just because someone can afford something (G37/335/A5) doesn't mean that they are obligated to purchase it.
