Toyota/Subaru 2011 Supra Successor Withers Away
The sporty compact car Subaru and Toyota were developing together has been put on hold because of the worldwide economic slowdown, both companies confirm.

The program had been developing a pair of sporty small cars for sale by both automakers in 2011. The companies' other high-profile collaboration, the assembly of Toyota Camrys in Subaru's Lafayette, Ind., plant, remains intact.Toyota took a small stake in Subaru when GM ended its relationship with the all-wheel drive specialist in 2005.

It wasn't meant to compete with one, only to replace the Celica line discontinued some years ago. Hybrid drivetrain was planned for those small sporty coupes.

Akio is a very serious enthusiast. Toyota will start increasing it's performance edge on every hand with Akio Toyoda as new President and grandson of the founder of The Toyota Motor Corp. I'm telling you guys this guys is not playing around. He said his company has the engineering prowess and resources to rival the best at their own game. The competition should be very afraid.
