Nissan Skipping Several Major Autoshows To Conserve Cash
Nissan Motor Co Japans third-biggest automaker, said on Friday it would skip some major international auto shows in the new business year starting on April 1 to save cash as global car sales plummet.

Nissan, owned 44 percent by Renault SA, said it had selected the New York, Shanghai, Tokyo and Geneva auto shows during the 12-month period to March 31, 2010 as the four major events to showcase its cars.

Global carmakers use auto shows to promote latest and upcoming vehicle offerings and technology, both through the media and to the public. But signs of dwindling participation are emerging as the global slump eats into the industry's sales volumes and profits.

Nissan should stick with building vehicles that pick up garbage.

A few trash cans of waste could be crammed into the Cube :-\

While I do get some companies pulling away from Superbowl commercial but I just don't get companies that are pulling away from the auto shows. What's the point of making good concept or new ground breaking cars, if they are going to be shy showing it off. It's like saying we have good football team but we are not going to some of the playoff. I think it's dumb move.

All things considered, why don't they let the local retailers take a few cars to showcase them? It wouldn't cost corporate anything, and unless there's an entrance fee for the show it also shouldn't cost the dealer much to part with a few cars for a few days and still get the word out about their products.

What's wrong in having to look at Nissans less often?

Smart move but I hate it for enthusiasts and the kids who can't see em. :(
