Audi Sales Tumble 24.4% In February
Audi today announced sales for the month of February totaling 4,653 units sold, a decrease from February sales in 2008. Audi predicts an increase in its share of the U.S. luxury vehicle market when all February 2009 sales are reported compared to year-earlier results. This increase continues a consistent climb by Audi in market share over the course of last year and again this January.

The Audi A5 continued to post increases over last year. The A5 recorded 494 units sold in February 2009, an increase of 28.6% over the previous February. Coupled with January sales, the Audi A5 is outselling its 2008 pace by 51.1% with 1,097 units sold this year to date.

"While the global outlook is challenging, we feel well-prepared and our focus is to catch the attention of consumers who are in the market for new or pre-owned vehicles," said Johan de Nysschen, President, Audi of America. "The fact that we've gained market share nearly every month over the past year is an indication that our messages of efficiency, design and innovation are connecting with consumers."

Audi Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) sales maintained solid numbers regardless of the difficult market. Audi recorded 2,467 CPO units sold this February.

Oh my God. Those A8 sales are embarrassing. It's such an amazing car, and really should be selling better.

Year to date jaguar is up 18% over 2008. They have it going good while the rest of the industry is showing double digit declines.

Are you talking about Jaguar in the US? They haven't posted US sales figures since Tata bought them, feel free to share those elusive figures.

Yes, and Jaguar its all over is such a tour de force against Audi. Audi crushes it in every market including its own in the UK.

Does anyone know how many dealers of each brand there are in the US? I know Automotive News used to print (this was pre-internet) either the total number of dealers of each brand occasionally, or the number of units sold per dealer. I would think this is a pretty important statistic. of course there are a lot of variables, but if it takes 300 dealers to sell 80,000 Brand X per year and 2,000 dealers to sell 100,000 Brand Y, obviously Brand X is going to have much more profitable dealers.

Audi is a company not a brand. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Volkswagen group.
Infinity, Acura and Smart are "brands" under their respective companies. Not sure about Mini.

Please research your facts. Audi is a company traded on the German Stock Exchange under the Symbol NSU.
Please enlighten us with the trading symbols for Mini, Smart and Acura!

What most people don't know is that the Volkswagen Group (or Volkswagen AG) is not the same as the Volkswagen brand. The VW group owns several different car companies including Volkswagen Passenger cars, Audi, Bentley, Bugatti etc.

OK Whatthe (or is it "Whatever"). By your reasoning VW=Audi=Bently= Bugatti=Lamborghini= Crap!
This takes your credibility up another notch...NOT!
So pray tell, why are you so compelled to keep attacking Audi?

Throwing about random arguments does not justify your biases. Have a great day.

Actually you are very WRONG Whatthedouche. Get you head of out your BMW ass and get some facts. Audi is an independent corporation within the VAG group. Delivers its own profit and serves as its own independent business entity. Whatthedouche, they should ban you just for your stupidity alone.

Audi does not get a good return on investment from all the advertising dollars it spends...

But then again, they don't lose nearly as much money on each car sold than say BMW.

Whatthe=Super Dumbass and ignorant to boot. Trys to change facts to suit his small mind. And sixxfive, you are also clueless like the rest of the lame Audi haters on this site. Audi has a higher return on investment per unit sold than BMW. Latest figures have Audi dealers in the US one of the most profitable (see Automotive News) knocking the failing BMW down your collective toilet.

Buy a toilet=better value than Whatthe.

sorry Whatthe, but Audi is probably one of the least factory backed company.... that is why they are doing well and making profits.
