This just in-Hot news on the next Mercedes SL

Dear 001,

In the UK, Mercedes Benz are DISCOUNTING SL's by as much as £5,000 - fueling speculation that the "new" SL is closer that we think. Mercedes Benz are a little busy at the moment with the S-Class and forthcoming C-Class, but it's rumored that the SL may sneak in between these two big events.

There are two major changes afoot for the SL, one is the inclusion of the SLK/SLR nose to the car (along with some other slight modifications) and the other is the introduction of a revised 350 model with the latest electronic valve 270-bhp 3.5-litre V6 mated to the companies excellent 7-speed gearbox in an attempt to vastly improve performance of the entry-level model.

Other slight changes include the introduction of scratch-proof paint, a few paint and leather color options and a new range of alloy wheels complete the changes, which will attract a slight price increase when the car appears (probably) at Geneva in 2006.

The SL class usually waits a long time before a redesign.

This facelift was announced a while back.
