2010 Chevrolet Camaros spotted at GM’s Oshawa Plant

2010 Chevrolet Camaros spotted at GM’s Oshawa Plant
It was reported earlier this year that the production of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro had been delayed to March 16, 2009. However, Camaro5 forum member “Elvisuperman” has evidence that production of the new Camaros is well under way.

Elvisuperman writes: “In the lot at the Oshawa plant on the South-West corner of Wellington and Stevenson there are rows upon rows of new CAMAROS with stickers in the windows! All I had was my camera phone so forgive the quality of shots…I’ll go back tomorrow during the morning and get better ones if I can…”

Nice exterior (in looks and build quality) but I finally got to sit in one and the interior is absolute crap. My Focus has nicer materials, and my Solstice (while having the same, plasticky materials) at least has a good look to it.

My 2002 SS had a nicer interior than these. How sad.

AWD Camaro? Sacrilege! Not gonna happen for a number of reasons. That adds complexity to the production line which translates into extra cost.

Folks, GM is sitting on these on purpose. I can see the headlines already: "FIRST NEW CAR GM LAUNCHES AFTER BAILOUT IS 300HP CAMARO MUSCLECAR"! They will be murdered in the press if they were to say that they are already in production with this car while they are trying to beg Washington not to let them go broke. Photos like these might cause Congress to say "Screw GM. Let them fail if this is what they want to build." What Congress and the press really want to see are parking lots full of high MPG GM-made Prius-fighters ready for production, not a new muscle car.

Well it is about friggin time~ If their prices truly are starting at 23K then we are going to see a ton of these on the road. Still I am happy to see it finally become reality. Congratulations GM, you’re a daddy.

With all that being said, personally, I love the new Camaro and I think that they will sell well. But right now, its a PR nightmare for GM.

The product looks great. The paint jobs are a bore though. They could be a little more creative in that department. Even the low end v6 Dodge Challenger gets a black contrasting trim on the exterior.

Thats only for people that care about public perception. As an enthusiast and not a placater, I say right car right time!!! Actually what took so long!!!!

Looks like the Challenger and Camaro came out of the same cookie cutter. With today's economy and the need for fuel efficient cars it is quite apparent why GM is going down the toilet.
