Are You Looking At The Latest BMW Supersport Models Ahead Of Everyone Else?
If you recall we reported a while back about the upcoming BMW 1 Series Supersport.  Basically an enthusiast’s 1-series falling just short of the M designation.  This yet to be released model can be view by many as a tribute to the sporty "i" variants of days gone by.

Rumor has it now that, BMW may have another ace up their sleeve, and the same label will be used for a 3 Series as well, but would it be the called BMW 335i Supersport?

Let me give you a bit of perspective.  A while back I visited Classic BMW, the largest BMW dealership in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and possibly the nation.  My contact was Eric Maas owner of the dealership and childhood friend.  Eric kindly gave me the opportunity to take a full tour of his state of the art dealership, and then took me over to look over a few very special creations.

At that time the 1-Series had only been out for a short time and  and BMW was just starting to release the performance part lines for the 1-Series and the 3-Series. Eric was one of the first in the nation to receive the parts for these cars, so it came to no surprise he would put together his own version of what he thought BMW should make in the future. Eric is no stranger to performance cars, fielding his fair share of race cars on the Grand Am circuit, and being an official Dinan performance dealer for the area. So to say he know what he is doing may be an understatement.

Little did I know at the time that I was looking at the spitting image of BMW’s upcoming 1 Series Supersport and possibly a yet to be announce 3 Series Supersport as well.  Since Eric was prepping fro a visit from BMW North American brass the very next day while I was there, it comes as no surprise that his creations probably were the impetus for these latest models appealing to the enthusiast who isn’t quite ready to upgrade to the M just yet.  Are there horsepower increase to match the obvious handling and braking improvements? Only time will tell.

Enjoy the shots below and let us know what you think, Is BMW on to something here?

If I'm not mistaken, the package on the 3 series is called the aero-kit and it's currently on sale? Personally, after seeing a 3 series coupe on the streets here with the aero-kit on, I would never buy one without it. It looks amazing.. The pictures don't do it justice ( and why aren't there better pictures of the front?! )

My time was limited and there were customers all over the cars. But you should get a good idea of what they should look like.

60k for this 135 and yet no true mechanical LSD is included in this package!!! Who are they kidding?!?! This car is crippled without a true LSD and if you don't believe it, look at the comparison of Car and Driver's April issue - 4 Best-Buy Sports Coupes - The 370Z out-handles the 135 in part because of its LSD.
Somebody will pay 60k for this to feel special, I suppose.

+100 BMW is killing me with no mechanical LSD's. Why do you have to pony up M money to get an LSD? AND why don't AutoSpies readers demand the LSD?

Forget about handling, the LSD is a performance necessity for powering out of LOW SPEED corners, IE stoplights. Wet weather driving is also a b*tch without an LSD.

$58,400 for the 135i and $61,000 for the 335i "tricked out"

2009 M3 Sedan
Starting at $54,850 MSRP

M3 Coupe.. $58,000

so let's so let me think about this... Which is better performance, which is going to holds its value? I Mod'ed up 135/335 OR a Factory M3.....

You begin to see WHY the parts are aftermarket... a la carte they can return a profit.. not If packaged that way and priced at full, few if any will buy the full MONTY...

I would imagine BMW would be able to price it a bit more accordingly.

Both cars sold? Was there some kind of tax write-off involved?
