Audi To Bring Both the TT-RS And RS5 Stateside, Who Should Be Worried?

Audi To Bring Both the TT-RS And RS5 Stateside, Who Should Be Worried?
While current reports and Audi's own official statements suggest the Audi TT RS is not coming to the U.S., our Audi sources tell us quite the opposite, that chances are very high it'll make it stateside. Audi views the new 335-horsepower TT RS (which was just unveiled at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show) as one of its halo cars, and thus, sees it as an important image car in the U.S., not to mention a vehicle that can take on the likes of the Porsche Cayman S. So why does Europe get the RS way before the U.S.?

Our insiders tell us Audi USA prefers to stagger the release of variants to keep model lines fresh and buyers interested. In other words, allow the recently introduced 265-hp TTS to garner some sales and accolades before the RS steals the limelight. When can we expect the RS on U.S. soil? With sales for Europe beginning this month, figure sometime this fall.

why mention BMW at all this is an Audi post....and you think the BMW fans are the issue, this is an Audi yet you contribute nothing to it at all except by mentioning BMW pretty stupid. I ill say that in my opinion this should have been the TTS the tts is a great car, good gas mileage, and it looks good but it overlaps with the 3.2 a bit much in both price and content. The TTRS im assuming will be the car to put distance between the lineup in price and performance.

These cars will be awesome. Sound, quality build, and curb appeal they have it all. I'm impressed!. I'm a BMW fan but credit is given where credit is due, plain and simple.

I'm not sure how much the TT-RS will steal from the TT-S, but it doesn't really matter to Audi as long as people are buying their cars and not another brand.

Hopefully the wide selection of TT's will make Audi unique amidst the z4, 370z, cayman/boxster, etc.

The Audi TT RS looks like a phenomenal car. It could potentially do very well in the U.S. with its great looks, nice interior, appealing HP numbers and Audi prestige. Unfortunately, it will NOT sell well because Audi will price it at over $60k and people will look elsewhere. Sell it for $40k and it will take over.

Yeah - what's with the inflammatory tag lines? Who should be worried? I should be, for one. I am worried that I cannot afford the RS5 - I need a car that outperforms the M3 and the C63 without having to buy the GTR (I want a nicer interior and arguably better design).

i agree. i know i'm worried that i won't be able to afford the RS5. I'm sure it will cost close to what the M6 costs (let's hope not).

Audi's RS series are typically significantly more expensive and much better than their S-series brethren. Let's hope they maintain this tradition with their TT and 5 cars as the S versions aren't really a significant upgrade from the base cars for the price.

Recently had the chance to drive an Audi TT-S and opened it up a little bit and the feeling left me wanting more... and more... and more. That car is phenomenal and if it is any indication of what the more powerful TT-RS and RS5 will be, then it will definitely worry their competitors...
