Rendered Speculation: 2010 SAAB 9-5

Rendered Speculation: 2010 SAAB 9-5
Saab is in a big mess. Last month they filed for bankruptcy at Swedish courts and are now in reorganization which would eventually make Saab a fully independent business.

Thankfully they have not stopped development of new models. Just recently we brought you spy photos of the next generation 9-5.

Despite wearing heavy camouflage it was clear that the roof flows smoothly into the rear making it another coupe-like sedan.

Rumor is that compared to the current 9-5 it will gain some weight, height and length.

Based on these spy photos we have now 2 renderings showing you how the actual production model might look like.

It looks like a refreshed copy of the last generation Lexus IS model.

I have such a soft spot for SAAB. The 900 turbo of the late 80's is one of the first cars I really wanted, but of course family happens. SAAB, like Mitsubishi, Suzuki can come back from the brink of death. I think once they get on their feet, it will do fine. It might take o decade or so, but being independent from GM will allow SAAB to completely focus on get the product focus on track. We will see, but SAAB, I wish you the best. I would really like to see SAAB compete in the future with the likes of Audi. A tall order, but we will see.

Actually this looks consistent with the spy shots. Definitely has styling elements from the old Saabs. The problem for Saab is that they took way to long with a new 9-5. Very much like Jaguar with the S Type. Both companies suffered greatly.

Again I don't think GM had SAAB's best interest in mind. Chevy was always the spoiled child, and all the other children needed attention, SAAB the middle sibling. It could easily have had the 9-5 out a decade ago if it was independent and relied on its own.

It looks rather nice ...a tap of sophistication with its clean looks. It should fit in with modern buildings of a city or the snowy environment of it homeland Sweden itself.

FINALLY the world gets a redesigned 9-5. Would love to get one but will there be any USA dealers left?
