BMW 7 Series Designer, Karim Habib joining Mercedes-Benz team

BMW 7 Series Designer, Karim Habib joining Mercedes-Benz team
This is totally unexpected and a huge loss for BMW. The new 7 Series designer, Karim Habib, one of the top designers at BMW will join Mercedes-Benz team. Karim will lead the firm’s advanced design studio located in Stuttgart.

Habib will be responsible for the Mercedes-Benz F series cars, the concepts and experimental cars that Mercedes uses to develop its future design themes.
For those of you that his name might not ring any bells, Karim Habib was the head of the design team behind the amazing CS Concept which was unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show in 2007.

I'm surprised there wasn't a non-compete in play here.

The CS was very interesting indeed. BMW did the wrong thing by canceling the project. Now they will have nothing to compete with the Audi A7 or R8. Karim Habib has made a wise move by going to Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes-Benz is going back to its roots, buy building quality products with real craftsmanship. The new E-Class sedan and coupe are going to be real winners. Chris Bangle has left BMW at at good time as well. BMW is a sinking ship with profits down 90%. These two chaps have made a wise decision. Benz will always be Germany's finest.

It's not cancelled - just on hold during these hard times.

Great point. Will BMW weather the storm of low review, of course. The core of BMW is a very diverse and inventive. I'm not the biggest fan of BMW, (I do love the M3/X6 yeah, yeah) but it will always have its customer base. The new lead designer 'Vandenkook" is interesting at best. I've met him and like I said, "interesting".

Good news. MB badly needs good designers right now. I hope he makes something similar like his earlier CS concept at MB, which spawn new S class, CLS... etc.

lol seriously...
I love reading Autospies, but everytime I do...I see this guy: 'DocMarten' make a comment about BMW. All I see from DocMarten are comments about 'BWM 90% loss, BMW is a sinking ship' etc and followed on with a bunch of other bull$hit. You don't even post anything productive, but preach your hate towards BMW just to tell everyone Mercedes and Audi are better. Okay - they're better. Big deal! Like all industries - automotive, finance, internet, gaming consoles, soft drinks, all companies experience a time where 'when they go up; they must come down'.

BMW will sometimes be more successful than its rivals, Audi will sometimes take that spot, and so will Mercedes-Benz. Its a competitive rotation! Everyone knows that Audi has finally 'picked up its gam'e and now its moving up ahead of BMW AND Mercedes. Mercedes-Benz has also had a few problems in the past with regards to its 'quality' and 'image'. And now, BMW are experiencing some financial problems.

Your aggressive and degrading attitude towards BMW makes you look like you care about BMW more than an actual BMW fanboy does. Look at yourself - after clicking on 10 links; I've seen the same topics relating to BMW and maybe an additional sentence to encapsulate the actual topic being discussed.

Now, you can flame back at me, give me a whole page essay, say this and that; but bottom line...talk about something else! So what if Toyota or Merc buy/takeover BMW, it doesn't say anywhere that Toyota or Merc will last forever ;) You'd be surprised. =)

If you can go around posting the same shit about BMW, I might as well repeat myself with this comment.

iftwb, that was touching. I was tearing up and... just joking, You do make a point and not to gang-bang, but, not only DocMarten, and he does have good insight, but Agent009, badgewhore and the like will have a tilt to one side they prefer. I do that as well with domestic post that for some reason doesnt' make it after submitting 10, maybe one will filter through on a good day. Maybe I'm too bias, but we shouldn't make it so obvious that this becomes Germany's Autospies or American Autospies or that could be what was intended from the very beginning and we just tag along as bystanders.
