Upcoming Audi RS3 powered by the turbo engine found on TT-RS
In a recent interview made by Autovisie Magazine, Michael Dick, Audi’s member of the board of management for technical development, said that the German manufacturer may build the new RS3.

Listening to him we found out that, technically speaking, the new Audi RS3 is ready because it will use the 2.5-liter turbo engine found on the brand new TT RS which was recently unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. For those who don’t know the engine is capable to produce an impressive 340 hp and 450 Nm of torque, pushing the vehicle to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.6 seconds (same time achieved by the Audi R8) while the top speed achieved is 288 km/h.

Yeah, small cars and wagons...oops..sorry, hatch-backs. That would be a serious hot-hatch...too bad we'll never see it here in Canada either. Boo

We Americans have been buying small cars from the Japanese like the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and Ford Focus from the Americans and others all this time. It's the ignorant Germans who wouldn't bring the smaller cars over here without charging a hefty premium for them in the name of protecting their self-perceived "luxury" brand.

BMW, Mercedes and Audi need to just bring smaller cars over here already and make them affordable to everyone. A diesel or two here and there would help as well.

So they should loose money in order to satisfy american "Affordable vehicle requirements" ?

The A3 and TT might be small vehicles but they are Extremely Well Built with Amazing attention to detail and as such it costs a fair bit more than the Civics and Focuses you just compared it to.

I think the price Audi asks for these vehicles are fair and if you cannot afford them, feel free to go and buy the Civics.

investor27,

I disagree. The VW Rabbit is here and is a better, more powerful, more refined car than the Civic, Corolla or Mazda3. It is priced similarly and it was even recommended in CR. Do we see people buying it over the Japanese offerings? No. Years of brainwashing done by CR and JD Power took a toll on the American car buyer. It is hard apparently for the common car buyer in America to change its ways. German brands KNOW that trying to sell the average American car buyer a German car is an almost impossible task. Everybody here thinks that owning a German car is somehow more expensive. That in spite of the fact that VW and BMW offer maintenance free programs.

The problem is with the people here, not with the German brands.
