New Vw Golf VI gets 6 stars at the EuroNCAP safety tests
In the latest EuroNCAP safety tests, the Volkswagen Golf got the highest rating of five stars. Even though initially the Golf Mk6 also received the top score in the original EuroNCAP test, the procedure has since become more stringent. Because of this the car has been tested again.

In the current test the following were all evaluated: adult occupation protection, child occupation protection, pedestrian protection and the level of safety equipment the car is equipped with. Included also is a test for rear crash for whiplash protection measurement which motivated VW to equip the Golf with head restraints that were optimized for whiplash.

FYI Toyota Avensis and iQ are the first cars to receive the highest ratings in the newly revised EuroNCAP crash test standards. Suck on that.

There is no award of six stars. Whoever posted this, probably is paid by Volkswagen PR department.

EuroNCAP awarded Golf with five stars, score achieved by virtually every modern car tested nowadays by EuroNCAP.

It is true however that recently introduced Golf probably possesses highest overall score in the compact car group. Time will tell whether other compact cars recently introduced will be able to match this.

EuroNCAP also does not mention about introducing six star rating: http://www.euroncap.com/pressreleases.aspx

Excellent work VW. Better scores than any BMW in existence. VAG might have to bail out BMW.

"VAG might have to bail out BMW."

VW AG, not VAG. Whatever you call them anyway, VW AG already leapfrogged the Ultimate Overrated Machine. That's why they seek asylum at Mercedes.

There's no such thing as 6 stars. Whoever wrote this article made it up for whatever inane reasons.

Euro NCAP definitely does not award 6 stars. Although such an award scheme was under discussion a few years back, the latest rating system awards a maximum of 5 stars.
Golf VI was awarded 5 stars in 2008. However the rating was based on a now obsolete scheme and only referred to the adult occupant protection category. Euro NCAP has just released first result in the new rating scheme. http.//www.euroncap.com

Might have got top marks in the safety department but it looks slightly cheaper than it's predecessor, Cannot quite put my finger on exactly what is wrong but it just seems not as well engineered or Assembled, It even has the Exposed Rear Suspension like you see in the Civics and Focuses. This is something you never saw in the Mark V

The Golf got the best results the NCAP has had with its new test.

So? Safest car they have tested so far. The Golf is rated safer than all of the following cars:
