Fiat partnership with BMW to sell Alfa Romeo cars in the U.S.
The Alfa Romeo vehicles are returning to the US through BMW’s help as well. For the past two days, many auto journalists reported a possible partnership between BMW and Fiat, with the main focus on the future BMW Project i cars and the revival of Isetta brand.

Today, Fiat and BMW announced a different partnership, which involves the Fiat owned brand, Alfa Romeo. Translating this partnership into simple words, it basically means that BMW will sell the Alfas through their dealerships. It is unknown at this time if the deal will include only BMW owned dealerships or any private owned ones as well.

MotorAuthority goes further stating that the BMW and Fiat also considering the possibility of a coop between the Mini and Alfa Romeo models.

Alfa Romeo plans to return to the States in 2010 and having an already setup infrastructure, it could only help. They have been in talks with Chrysler as well, but no details on that deal yet.

One of the first Alfas to return to the US will be the Alfa Romeo Mi.To.

Assuming that this deal will go through and Alfa Romeo might be looking in the near future to establish a larger presence in the U.S. competing on several segments, I cannot wonder if this deal will hurt BMW at a certain level and steal customers away. Some of the most recent Alfa Romeo models are quite stunning.

The MiTo is a nice little number. That would be a good opening bout with the Mini Cooper as the challenger while the 159 could duke it out with the A4 (certainly not the 3-series...after all, can't have a house fight, now can we?). The 8C I can do without, but I suppose it would be the main event. That said, though, has anybody ever noticed that people have stopped paying attention to heavyweight fights and find middleweight fights more entertaining? All car manufacturers need to have an Oscar De La Hoya and a Roy Jones Jr in their corners in today's market. The Don Kings of the automotive world should take heed.

This is such old outdated news and is no longer valid. This came out last yr long before the thought of a Chrysler/Fiat tie up.

I thought Fiat is in bed with Chrysler already?????? So. Fiat doesn't think Chrysler is "prestigious" enough for Alfa?

I am with you on this one, now this is getting a bit confusing. So Fiat wants to absorb Chrysler (but not the debt of it BTW), then BMW and Fiat want to work together for the small cars (500 and Mini), they also want to work together on that Alfa romeo deal, why not using the Ferrari / Maserati dealer network? And to top it of, BMW and M-B announced their intention of 7% market shares trade. Not counting BMW partnership with Peugeot for the diesel engines, and that Peugeot and Fiat have collaborations agreement. How about VW and Chrysler with the Routan.
Oh boy! This is getting interesting!

I don't understand the partnering of Alfa and BMW, but I would love for Alfa to make it back to the US. I had a 156 estate in Paris, and I loved it.
