Infiniti turning it up a notch - 350HP M37 and G37 on the way?
Infiniti Readies Direct Injection for M37 and G37, Unsure About New Q.

The windblown puddle of mercury known as the Infiniti Essence concept car shown at this year's Geneva show tells volumes about where Nissan's luxury division is headed both stylistically and technically. The twin-turbo 3.7-liter direct injection V-6 in the Essence will debut, sans turbos, in the redesigned M sedan due in early 2010, making about 340–350 hp. The complex direct-injection technology, in which fuel is injected directly into the cylinder rather than in the intake ports as is more common, most likely will also make its way into the G37 coupe and sedan as mid-cycle upgrades before the cars are completely redesigned in about three years. Besides making more power, gasoline direct-injection technology is also needed to meet tightening emissions and fuel-economy regulations around the world.

As a general statement I would agree, it applies to everyone.

"infiniti's U.S. office wants a $70,000–$80,000 car to seal its position as an aspirational luxury performance brand against Lexus, BMW, and Audi."

I insist on "aspirational", and please, 4 years to come up with direct injection since Audi came up with it in mass manufactured vehicle worldwide.

What a joke, how about you give us a smooth running VQ engine.

Nissan has had DI in the JDM market since 1997, but I don't expect a fake car enthusiast like yourself to know that. Quit giving Audi owners a bad name.

Smoke,
If you knew how to read, you will see that I stipulated on "mass market worldwide". This is in the same tenure as M-B not bringing DI to the US market with the new E-class. It is something to make DI work for one part of the world and another to make it work for all markets regarding of difference in fuel octane and grade.
So , do you think you still more than I do?

Sounds like a good plan. Can't wait to see what they do with the new M. Putting this in the G37 is a very smart move on there part!

All Infiniti needs is a premium flagship sedan geared more towards the BMW 7-Series to cement itself as a true sport-luxury brand. They seem to be making all the right moves among the enthusiast crowd.

I own a 2007 G35, and I think Infiniti should use DFI not to enter the horsepower game, but to enhance emissions figures, fuel economy, and the general power delivery in the different driving situations. It would be great if they can mate this engine with a dual clutch transmission but if Infiniti did not work on the suspension and stability system, the handling will be really spoiled, which I think is more important than a stack of more horses.

would people get off of Infiniti's interiors. They are great looking in and out!! I think all of the manufactures have strengths and weekness's here.

Please let this leave room for a G25 w/ DI. It would do wonders for sales with a lower price tag.
