It's Official: Acura To Launch X6/FX Fighter At New York Auto Show-Brilliant Move Or Suicide?
We've been telling you Acura has an X6/FX fighter in the works and now it's official.

Acura has sent these images and and introduction date of the New York Auto Show for its debut.

Is this a brilliant move or suicide for this once proud marque.

I'll tell you one thing...it sure looks good from the sneaks...

But is there a market for this from them or anyone in this economy?

Oops...a closer looks reveals that "fender darkspot" might actually be the door handle.

Acura makes nothing Hot... they will only switch sales from the MDX, not take any from Infiniti OR BMW. ...this thing will be Trash & slow.

What you'll only read here is that I bet they save the biggest news for the show.

It will be a Hybrid.

Now THAT would be a killer move.

I don't have any special intelligence here that it will be, just a 001 vibe that will be their blockbuster move...

Wonder if they'll call it the M6? Or MD6? What should it be called?

Not sure but I'm guessing it'll end with DX.

Isn't DX already a format for a Nikon Lens?

Agent001, this thing might be a sales failure just like the X6. The X6 sold 250 units last month which is very sad. The FX sold 1,074.

The Acura MSX will sell better than the X6, because the X6 is ugly and useless compared to the X5.

BTW, it is going to be called the MSX.

BTW, Agent001, why can't we post pictures on these forums? You are the only person that can do it. Where do you upload pictures on the Agentpage? It doesn't work, I have tried. Don't you wonder why no one here has ever posted a picture in the discussion???

yet the X5(which is much more expensive than the FX) outsold the FX which is the car the FX competes with not the X6.

It seems to me that The FX and X6 are more direct competitors. Basically tall sports sedans with foldable rear seats and a hatch. The FX isn't much on utility, like the X6 while the X5 is more a true crossover with more usuable cargo space.

Infiniti really doesn't make anything to compete with the X5 head-on. The X6 seems like the more natural comparison which is why most mags tend to compare the two rather that the FX vs. X5.

The photo must be in your AgentSpace to work in the comments

First you upload in your agentspace manager...http://docmarten.myautospies.com/manager

Then you put the link in between

before the X6 all mags compared the FX to the X5, that is Infinitis answer to the midsize crossover segment, the X6 is simply a different iteration of the X5 like the CLS and the e class, the M doesnt compete with the CLS just because they both are supposed to be performance sedans. Like the CLS the X6 is much more expensive than the car its based on, the only reason why mags compare the 2 because they have a hard time defining what the X6 is, but comparing to a car that can run almost twice as much doesnt make sense

IMO...

If it's just another crossover X6 competitor with nothing special (eg: MDX with a new body), it'll fail, and possibly horribly: the market for new cars is bad now, and nobody wants another car with nothing special about it other than body style. On the other hand, if it's a hybrid with 300+hp, 25+mpg city and highway, and priced under the Lexus RX450h (under about $45k), they might be able to generate some interest. I doubt it, though... my money's on nothing special and flop.

I don't know how well it will sell, but it could be cool. These sneak peeks look good.

Here's hoping they give this thing an actual name, and not the usual alpha-numeric crap.

we'll have to see how it sits in real life. Based on those teaser photos, it looks like it could just as easily compete with the 5-Series GT as the X6.

Looks like it may be a touch flamboyant for my taste; however, the side profile and rear 3/4 shot is pretty spectacular.

now now, let's not forget the MDX was the "IT" SUV to have from about 00-02 or at least for people who didn't want an RX like everyone else had. It just seems to me that Acura hasn't been a leader but more so an alternative which is a good thing in that hopefully being late to the game they can make some improvements over the early arrivals like the 1st gen MDX did to the 1st gen RX.

Suicide. X6 is a failure for Bimmer. Not really seeing how a clone done by Acura will be any better.

I'm excited to see this. If it's a small cross-over, it might be just what I need. They are certainly being coy about how the front end will look, and I won't argue with those who say it could make or break this vehicle. I keep sniffing around the EX35, but I think Infiniti dropped the ball with the price and the way the options were packaged. It's a G35 wagon, but was priced at a premium over the G. Acura makes good, competitively priced cars that may not be to some people's luxury standards, but with their advanced all-wheel drive system, this could hit a sweetspot. I just pray to the gods it doesn't have the cow catcher grille, but realize the odds are it does.
